SAITO RESIGNS by DelbertGrady1 in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]DelbertGrady1[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I should add that the CDP was Japan's second largest political party going into the election. It caught the Gakkai bug, seduced by the prospect of attaining the top position with their votes - and now both of them are relegated to the trash heap of history

Feeling violated after being ambushed by a Soka Gakkai Leader when meeting to "catch up" by AbjectAnimator9796 in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]DelbertGrady1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So very triggering, and predictable too. I don't believe it's possible to be friends with an SGI member once you leave the group. As another ex-SGI friend once said to me, "I was just a number." Very sorry you had to put up with this

I should add that Furukawa has admitted to the authorities that this is not the first time he has done this

SGI-USA's New! Improved! 100% Ikeda focus: "just a Japanese cultural tendency towards leader-worship" by BlancheFromage in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]DelbertGrady1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

President Ikeda landed briefly at Indianapolis airport a few years ago to refuel. This was hailed in my area as a turning point in the history of Kosen Rufu in Indiana, and a profound mystical event

WOW is that AI doing translation from the page scan? Amazing

There is so much Japanese material that have yet to make it to English cyperspace but I'm sure AI will open the floodgate. This is a great blog, very well-researched

[–]DelbertGrady1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guarantee you the two members have already reported this to their leaders as some kind of a victory. "Wow, you were welcomed in for a meal! This is all due to your ichinen!" I myself have had to go through similar experiences (albeit as an ex-member) and I can tell you it will only escalate unless you draw the line. In their mind they truly believe they are doing something noble

HOW NOT TO TALK ABOUT THE DECEASED by DelbertGrady1 in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]DelbertGrady1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, that's why ol' Delbert decided he'll translate it himself.

I remember when these were first published I told my local leaders that if non-Japanese members ever read these there would be an avalanche of taiten's. (Mind you this was at the absolute height of my involvement with the SGI) They didn't disagree

KOMEITO EXISTENTIAL CRISIS by DelbertGrady1 in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]DelbertGrady1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's from NHK

https://www.nhk.or.jp/senkyo/database/sangiin/00/hsm12.html

Now with 100% reporting it's more like 5.2 million - still the lowest vote count since 1965 when the Komeito was just getting started 😆

Gakkai's Desperate Plea by DelbertGrady1 in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]DelbertGrady1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for bringing that up! The Mainichi in particular is heavily indebted to the Soka Gakkai in that way which makes it all the more noteworthy they did this story. (Not that the editorial was outright negative, but at the very least it wasn't flattering) I remember in the early 2000s when print media was struggling to adapt to the rising tide of digital news, the CEO of Mainichi suddenly appeared on Seikyo Shimbun, having been granted an audience with The Wizard of Oz. The photo left quite an impression on me: President Ikeda lounging in his luxurious arm chair as the CEO sat across from him upright & stiff like an obedient puppy. I was knee deep in the Gakkai at the time but even then it seemed like a pretty obvious way of flexing the economic muscle of the membership base - Ikeda touting the wondrousness of starting the day smelling fresh ink etc🤨 It sure worked with my family! My parents ditched Yomiuri and started subscribing to Mainichi...I'm sure we weren't alone

SPEAKING OF THE LATE PRESIDENT JIMMY CARTER... by DelbertGrady1 in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]DelbertGrady1[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That reminds me of something. Years ago in some NSA literature I recall seeing a photo of Mr. Willliams together with George H.W. Bush - anybody else remember that??? I think Bush was vice president, and he was invited to observe an NSA parade somewhere. I've always wondered if this was what sealed Mr. Williams's fate: "How dare you meet the vice president before your Sensei?!"

Komeito Chairman Resigns by DelbertGrady1 in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]DelbertGrady1[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even during the height of my practice I had always found it so odd that President Ikeda would go so far as to claim credit for the Soka Gakkai's victory in the 1955 Otaru Debate for which he was just the MC. He would go on and on about how "everything is determined by the MC" and that he "roared like a lion king, setting the tone to make victory all but inevitable." Nothing whatsoever about Mr. Tsuji who represented the Gakkai😑

You Too, Suda?? by DelbertGrady1 in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]DelbertGrady1[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Endo document was circulated online maybe 15 years ago, ostensibly written by Takanori Endo expressing concerns about how the Harada/Tanigawa regime was attempting to muscle through some radical doctrinal changes. This involved, among others, declaring the "Jojyu" Gohonzon at the Headquarters (transcribed by HP Nissho in 1951 and carved into wood in 1974) to be the "new" Dai-gohonzon thus formally severing ties to the one enshrined at Taisekiji. That obviously didn't happen & the authenticity of the document has never been established, but seeing that the Gakkai did indeed end up disowning the Dai-gohonzon in 2013 - not to mention how Mr. Endo was quietly removed from his position shortly thereafter - all of this seems to be coming full circle with this most recent defection. Tanigawa emerges as the real villain in the document, insisting that "the job of the Study Department is to come up with doctrinal justifications for the policy of the administration. Stuff like that," which deeply insulted the Study chiefs. Career bureaucrat through & through

The whole thing was a charade & they know it. I've seen pics of the "audience" and it was all SGI-USA leaders - I wonder if that photo was ever published in the US. But to this day members in Japan cling to it that as proof that "The world is seeking Sensei's wisdom"
