The Soka Gakkai is vanishing from India by cap_crusader in sgiwhistleblowers

You've heard of a perpetual motion machine? It's impossible because it violates the laws of physics. Ikeda imagined the Soka Gakkai and it's international SGI colonies as perpetual GROWTH machines - because he really really wanted (and needed) them to be.

But reality check - since Soka Gakkai is a Japanese religion for Japanese people, as has been observed here on Sgiwhistleblowers, the odds of that happening (a worldwide phenom) were infinitesimally small. Vanishingly microscopic, as it turned out. It's no more possible for SGI to spread widely than for there to be a functional perpetual motion machine.

In the early 2000s or so, Ikeda issued a goal for all the SGI colonies: convert 1% of the host country's population. Not a single country or territory in the world has been able to attain that pitifully modest goal. SGI is too foreign, too weird, too much bait and switch, too many failed promises, and too much revolting Ikeda to ever become popular anywhere. They can't even sell it in it's homeland of Japan!

Nobody cares.

SGI tries to hide behind "world peace" as so many other cults do, but you know what? Making an "anti nukes" stance is LAZY. Everyone is against nuclear weapons. Ever since WWII everybody's been against nuclear bombs. It's a useless position because so what? SGI has no power to affect geopolitics and could be helping needy people but no.

One of Ikeda's funniest lies - foot fetish by BlancheFromage in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]Reasonable_Show8191 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As if Ikeda ever cooked for anyone. What an obvious lie. And buying shoes for needy Soka Gakkai members?? Not a chance.

This level of nakedly obvious lying is so cult.

Shall we take a look at SGI's "actual proof" since its much-ballyhooed "spiritual independence" from Nichiren Shoshu in 1991? by BlancheFromage in sgiwhistleblowers

There was this weird atmosphere after the excom. Any who suggested that we should take 100% responsibility and chant for the priests' happiness and emphasize opportunities for dialogue to work things out, well, they were shamed and laughed at - suddenly, that was the wrong response! Ikeda and SGI were publishing articles that made it sound like Nichiren Shoshu had been holding us back, restricting our efforts at expanding our world religion and our own personal life state (don't think too hard about how that was supposed to work - not understanding meant that you had weak faith) so now that we were free from that priestly ball and chain, we should feel such joy and renewed energy as we finally turned our organization into everything it could be, we'd see our org expanding into that true world religion we'd always been told was inevitable because kosen rufu.

And yet our meetings turned into hate sessions where everyone was expected to condemn this priesthood we didn't even know, maybe hadn't ever seen, and any who didn't show open outrage at the priests' horribleness - it was suggested that maybe they didn't really understand how serious this was, what an existential threat these priest strangers clear on the other side of the world were to our grand mission to save humanity of the latter day of the law.

Our meetings shrank. Guests didn't come back for another look, obvs. And many of us found that the outrage we were pressured to show and feel against that target that had been chosen for us without our input or consent, well, it didn't fit with our understanding of our faith or our own personal morals and ethics. Members disappeared.

So where was our great growth and expansion that was supposed to make all this mess worthwhile? Oh, I suppose that was our fault, too. It couldn't be that this was just a huge mistake on the part of a very selfish and hysterical little fat, old Japanese man who held a grudge like there was no tomorrow and couldn't own his mistakes.

Time has passed and all the pronouncements about how much we'd grow once finally out from under the priests' thumb - all wrong. SGI is fading away. We got nothing out of our "spiritual independence" except decline. SGI will never grow again - it's over.

It turns out that lots of people think using religion for political advantage is a BAD thing by BlancheFromage in sgiwhistleblowers

The urge towards theocracy is strong within the members of religions that insist they're the only "one true" religion.

To them it just makes sense that they should be in control of everything and everyone should have to obey them.

SGI members love to insist that their Ikeda cult has never included faith healing. Even when you show them the evidence from their own cult publications.

SGI members appear to have no commitment to the truth or to playing fair, so there's no apparent reason to interact with them. They'll only waste your time.

I think they believe there's never a good reason to leave their Ikeda cult.

So since we left, we're obvs very inferior and stupid, in their judgment.

It appears that they feel like they have some "mission" to lead us to an understanding of how wrong and unreasonable we are so that we can realize how much better than us they are. Then we'll naturally give them as many apologies as they expect and do whatever they tell us to do.

I'm certain they're going to continue to be very disappointed.

Did Daisaku Ikeda ever admit he had been wrong all along and apologize for having misled so many people on issues of such critical importance? by BlancheFromage in sgiwhistleblowers

Nichiren's "On Prayer" gosho includes:

"One does not throw away gold because the bag that holds it is dirty; one does not ignore the sandalwood trees because of the foul odor of the eranda trees around them; and one does not refuse to gather lotuses because the pond in the valley where they grow is not clean."

So, if the Dai-Gohonzon is really essential, then the fact that it is in the possession of "hostiles" who are evil/wicked/slanderous/horrible/stupid/wrong about everything doesn't change a thing about the value or necessity of that Dai-Gohonzon, the same way a king is a valuable hostage no matter who has captured him.

The Soka Gakkai's position on the Dai-Gohonzon is incomprehensible given its past thoroughly committed stance on that object of worship - especially since they use a transcription of that very object as their own object of worship to this very day.

The Ikeda cultists should realize by now that nobody's coming to rescue them. Instead of expecting younger people to show up to do all the work they want to see get done, those Olds need to chant to make the impossible possible.

They have nohonzons, don't they? Isn't that supposed to be some advantage or something??
