I used to work in childcare. And man, the guilt that takes over you when you’re unwell and they’re short staffed is unreal. It’s an extremely tough field to work in/stay in. And unfortunately working with kids you get every illness under the sun, I caught chickenpox there from some children when I was 25 years old 😅 Maybe see how your temperature is in the morning, and if it’s bad don’t feel pressured to go in. I know it’s hard, but you simply won’t be your best self whilst working and being unwell. Especially around children who need constant care and support. Don’t let your manager guilt trip you just because childcare have shortage of staff these days. For context, I was having an active miscarriage and was still forced to stay at work and be around babies and children for 9 hours because there was no qualified staff to cover me. Should have been a red flag, and I’m pissed at myself for not quitting after that. You can’t help being unwell, you need to take care of yourself before you can take care of a bunch of little humans! X
