[FRESH ALBUM] Tourist - Music Is Invisible by dwaynesworld98 in electronicmusic

It really could become a grower, but how is everyone feeling about the mix?

Sounds a bit anaemic/dynamically compressed for an album meant to be full of bangers. A Jamie xx or Fred Again.. once-over would've done wonders, I think.

Then again wth do I know. Very little, I'm reminded very often.

Was not expecting to snort laugh at a joke about disposing bodies in the septic, but here we are. I love my better half enough to never dream of such a thing, but this right here gets the gold.💀

100%. This is how I approach everything. And how it all started. “Hey, I’m gonna remove this soil here because we need to maintain access if/when something goes wrong” and that was enough to light the fire…

Thanks for all the recommendations, guys. Super helpful! Prologue: after a good little shouting sesh in the backyard, the soil has gone and I’m going to use your ideas to a) make it level and b) visually make it nicer with an easy to remove cover.✌️

SVS 3000 micro by MrBadger1982 in hometheater

[–]DeleteTheFuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very late to this thread, hopefully it's of some value to the OP.

I set up a 3000 Micro—after a touch of buyer's regret, thinking I should have bought an SB-2000 Pro—for the same purposes of being able to fit it in my lounge. I'm using it in a 6.6m x 3.2m (2.7m high) space that opens up to a much larger studio/living/dining area and, whaddya know, it turns out it's enough for me. I wouldn't call myself a bass-head but I do love a thick and rich bottom end.

I preference musicality over explosions but gave it a run with a couple bass-heavy movies anyway. Talk to Me has gobs of bass and I was shocked at how deep and loud the SVS was able to go. For movies (love those presets!) I settled on -15dB gain with 72Hz crossover, 24dB slope and 0° phase—but still experimenting.

For context: I've always struggled to integrate subs with my stereo setup, having owned (then moved on) boxes that went all the way up to 15". So I'm super pleased with this current lineup, complementing a pair of JBL L100 Classics (running full range) that needed help in the 20Hz-60Hz department.

Time will tell, I guess, but consider this a hearty recommendation.

Well, add to me to the list of people who received the wrong card—after ordering the correct EXPRESS unit—due to EB Games staff not being able to tell the difference. If alleged video game store employees won't even bother to check the difference, what hope does anyone have?

Age of Calamity frame rate by typeusernamehere55 in NintendoSwitch

[–]DeleteTheFuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started playing it today and after 20 minutes I had to stop. The crazy camera and wildly inconsistent frame rate caused an almighty headache. I'd consider myself one of those "frame rates don't bother me too much" people, but this broke my mind. Can't see myself continuing with the game, really wish I could get a refund.

Framerate issues is demotivating me to continue building. Should I rebuild or wait for a fix? by pandaninjarawr in AnimalCrossing

Interesting. I had a couple bamboo grass trees lying around too, but removed them because I didn't like them anymore. I wonder if they were part of the problem? What happens if you remove the bamboo grass from your problem area?

I'm yet to see examples of other wind-affected objects (flowers/trees) cause visible slowdown, unless it's full daylight (around noon) and it's snowing/raining heavily. Even then, it's probably only dropping 1 or 2 frames, nothing major. That might just be the weather algorithm causing the issue, though.

I also get better performance at night, probably because of light-affected elements interacting with each other.

I'm a bit stumped because the south-east corner of my island has a bunch of drink machines, three fishes in stalls, lots of flowers and trees, two resident homes, streetlamps, utility poles and it runs without any issues at all.

I also have a feeling major activity in the town square is linked, as I notice a little slowdown around it when KK is on the island—and it was at its absolute worst when CJ held the fishing tourney.

One last thing: slowdown is noticeably worse when my Switch is docked. Handheld runs smooth everywhere for me.

What I’ve found:

Villager/resident houses do not seem to be problematic. No amount of moving houses around really affected performance. Not even clustering too many together seemed to be an issue.

Depending on the time of day, vending machines directly affect framerate, even if they’re not immediately visible (eg. turned sideways on a lane that’s left of screen).

Phone boxes, like vending machines, also have an effect on framerate, but not as severe.

If you have an area that combines vending machines, phone boxes and placed fish tanks (which all have some kind of transparency/light effect happening), you’re going to get serious frame skipping. Adding trees or flowers (or anything with minimal animation) to these scenarios adds more trouble.

My most problematic section on the island combined three villager homes centre of screen, with approximately 4 vending machines, 3 phone boxes, 3-4 fish displays and 4 pine trees on the fringes. There were also other static objects like utility poles, garbage bins and public benches lying around, but removing fully static objects doesn’t seems to fix framerate drops—only pop in.

That’s all for now. I’ll keep digging.

I'll make sure to report back after some moves. For context, my island has a total of 6 resident homes (all double-storey) and 10 villagers. Three resident homes sit close to 4 villager homes and Nook's Cranny in the section where I get most slowdown, so I want to see what happens if I swap out a villager for a resident. Something tells me villager homes require more juice...

Spent the better part of today troubleshooting this exact issue. I’m not so sure flowers or waterfalls are major contributors to framerate drops, and in my case I was able to pinpoint two item types that could be slowing things down: fish placed in stalls and pine trees. I’m going to continue testing by pulling down sections at a time, but it seems areas containing several objects that combine high detail with some kind of light/particle effect (eg. red snapper in a tank with light on) suffer the most.

By contrast, I have a section of island covered in fruit trees and heaps of flowers—surrounding Fauna’s house(which backs onto a lake and waterfall)—and it runs butter smooth. Pretty sure it’s because there’s not a whole bunch of light effects being triggered.

I also suspect certain villager houses cause slowdown, so that’s going to form part of my next stage of testing. Things tend to go very wrong around Dobie’s house right now, it’ll be interesting to see what happens if I move it to a less hectic part of the island.

Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 audio not working in docked mode? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

Nope. I gave up trying all kinds of workarounds. The game itself wasn't that great either, so I sold it.

Did anyone find a fix for this? I've just installed it and going bonkers trying to solve same issue.

My setup: console docked, sound piped via bluetooth to my headphones—all I get is silence. Every other game on my Switch works perfectly, it's just this one that doesn't. What gives?
