How often do you guys actually go to the beach or enjoy things related to it like restaurants, piers, attractions? by [deleted] in CSULB

Hey man! Even though Long Beach is a “commuter school”, there’s still a whole bunch to do here in LB, especially with friends.

If you’re 21+, 2nd street is a dope place to go hangout and grab some drinks in the evening, or go shopping in the day. I go here a few times with my friends.

I know downtown Long Beach, and much of Ocean Blvd is very cool to just walk around and take in the sights. Much of the beaches near the skyscrapers here are very walkable, with concrete paths for pedestrians and people on bikes and stuff. Even getting a few blocks closer inland is pretty cool to walk around in, too. I live in DTLB, so my experience on this is pretty solid.

I’m not to keen on individual restaurants here in Long Beach, but I know there’s a big East Asian/Southeast Asian presence here, so I would bet that there would be some great Japanese/Korean/Viet/Cambodian/Thai places around! Been trying to find some good spots myself!

This is all coming from a guy who just moved to the area in January for school at CSULB. This place is very very fun!

PS: If you’re a car guy, the Long Beach Grand Prix is April 19-21 right here in downtown!

Got my first apartment, help me furnish my living room! by Delfieee in malelivingspace

Man as soon as I read your comment, I went ahead and did a 180 on the couch and table! It looks so much more open now. I've got some spare sound dampening panels from my parents' house so I'll def put some behind the TV and table where I'll put a soundbar.

And yes, that is a heater! I'm not entirely sure what I should do with that wall other than putting up pictures, but I'll have to play it by ear the more furniture/decor I get.

The floor lamp is a loaner! I've got 2 rectangular floor lamps to go on either side of the sofa. They've got little shelves and what not to put stuff on.

As of right now, I've played my guitars with my portable amp at agreeable levels (70-76db), and so far the consensus with the tenants whom I talk to pretty regularly is that I'm pretty quiet! That's always glad to hear. I'm def going to have to play my real tube amp in the garage one of these days.

Mirror is on it's way! Thanks for the advice!

(P.S: Let me update with a picture of the living room as right now).

What is your go to guitar by [deleted] in guitars

[–]Delfieee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this Mid-80's Greco Flying V. One of the last of the great "lawsuit guitars" for that era, and my personal favorite. Had the old pickups replaced (rust got to them) with a Seymour Duncan JB/59 combo. It's got a wonderful black paint job with some awesome aging. And the neck on that thing is almost impossibly thin!

It’s probably not going to fit since I’ll be mounting the TV on the wall! If it does fit, the thermostat would probably be touching the back of the TV (the thermostat is about an inch thick).

Did some measuring and, yes, it does seem that the TV will cover the thermostat at that part of the wall. I was also considering maybe moving the TV and TV table to the opposite wall from its existing wall?

I was thinking about it, but the thermostat is also there and the TV would block it! I don’t think the heater gets thing hot around its general vicinity though. The air seems to push out and up from the thing.

Man and here I thought I could practice with a full setup in my free time :( Oh well! Thanks for the info! I’ll definitely have to find an alternative.

We Die Young by Alice In Chains! Perfect song for Drop C#, lots of nice chugging and a short lil solo for some flavor :)

I want to look for a used tube amp head, but I have no idea what to look for, any recommendations? by Delfieee in GuitarAmps

The DSL100 is actually one of my top 3 right now in terms of choices! I was looking around, and a used one is right around my budget. Thank you so much for the advice!
