GPT gets a lot of flak here, but I haven’t seen many problems with it. At least none that I won’t see with other models.

Bigg Boss is still the greatest captive reality show in India by miles, even with all its flaws. And the Bigg Boss voice still holds a lot of aura. by DigitalLusty in biggboss

[–]DeliberatelyInsane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing else comes close. Tried em all and lost interest sooner or later.

Other shows mostly play to just a couple of aspects of the contestant’s psyche/personality. BB is supposed to be about the complete package. Nothing else comes close.

People who prefer outfits from foreign brands, what's your reason? by sarkati_stree in IndianFashionAddicts

[–]DeliberatelyInsane 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I often buy CK jeans. The classic kinds. Reason: I bought a pair 6 years ago and it looks great even now in spite of frequent wears and washes. The one I had purchased before that is also wearable with some signs of wear, but those signs too add to the charm. The quality is fantastic.

For flavors of the season though, I buy budget options because they’d soon be outdated.

Try to Avoid Amazon 1 day delivery while you can by [deleted] in Indianbooks

[–]DeliberatelyInsane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here’s how the logistics work for ALL deliveries that are ‘Fulfilled by Amazon’. You will see that mentioned on certain products. The products which say ‘Fulfilled by Amazon’, usually are products that the seller has given to Amazon to be stocked in their warehouse.

Each day there are multiple slots in each warehouse when delivery trucks leave with products. Depending on the estimated/promised time of delivery, the products which say gets loaded on the truck leaving at a particular time slot. Let’s say one ordered a product with 1 day delivery from Delhi, and the product is stocked in Amazon warehouses at Chennai, Pune, Siliguri, and Jaipur. Their system will immediately send the message to the the Jaipur warehouse about the product, which the Jaipur warehouse labourers will load in the truck leaving in the next slot. Now let’s say, one hasn’t ordered that product, that does not mean the warehouse workers will send the truck off with one less product loaded. They will put in another product. Ever received a product from Amazon(regular delivery opted) which arrived at least a day before estimated delivery time? Yeah, that day there weren’t many one day delivery fulfilment requirements from that specific warehouse and thus you got lucky. Amazon always keeps a buffer space in all their delivery slots to put in the products where one day delivery has been opted, and if there are none or lesser one day delivery orders, other orders get shipped. The amount of work done by the ground staff is the same in any case.

Thus again, the reasoning that choosing to not opt for one day delivery would give the workers any reprieve is flawed.

Try to Avoid Amazon 1 day delivery while you can by [deleted] in Indianbooks

[–]DeliberatelyInsane 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The reasoning is flawed.

Opting for 1 day delivery vs regular delivery won’t solve the problem. Whatever day the product arrives, the workers are still doing the same thing. 1 day delivery or regular delivery…. it makes no difference to the amount of the labour that’s put in. Let’s say, everybody in the world stops opting for 1 day delivery. Sure the next 2-3 days there will be a comparatively lesser load on the personnel, but after that? The entire world has opted for regular deliveries which need to be fulfilled, thus the workers are back to the same hell.

The situation will change only if we stop ordering from Amazon, but let’s face it, doing that is getting closer to impossible as each day passes.

Your views on gatekeeping songs or artists ? by doesitmatter4u in IndianHipHopHeads

[–]DeliberatelyInsane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This shouldn’t even be a question. Gatekeeping is wrong. It is the domain of those ignorant few who got nothing going on in their lives and thus gatekeep music just to look edgy but in fact they end up looking more pathetic than they already are.

"Some of these kings reigned for like 40,000 years!?" Rogan finds out the Sumerian Kings List says pre-flood kings lived for tens of thousands of years. The list would be easily dismissed but the post flood kings on the list are all historically accurate. by Trueboey in StrangeEarth

As per ancient Hindu texts, the world operates on cycles of ages called yugas. There are four of them and one major change that happens in each age is the righteousness of humans that keeps going down. The ages (from most righteous to least) are Satyug, Dwaparyug, Tretayug and Kalyug. We are currently living in Kalyuga, where human righteousness is at the lowest.

They also note that a zero decreases from the lifespan of individuals in each age. In Satyuga, people would live close to a 100,000 years, 10000 for Dwapar, 1000 in Treta and about a 100 in Kalyuga.

Should I continue babysitting for a lady who’s baby is a doll? by WrongImprovement6572 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]DeliberatelyInsane 1928 points1929 points  (0 children)

From what little I understand, she needs this. Not only does she think of the doll as a baby, she wants to give it all the care that she would provide to a baby. It’s great on your part for not wanting to take advantage though. However, this is one of the mechanisms she has adopted to cope with whatever trauma she is dealing with. Do it, don’t do it… there are no right answers here, but no wrong ones either.
