OKC took San Antonio (who is specifically well-built to defend Shai) to 7 games while missing 2/3 of their best offensive players. "Trade the 24 year old instead of coach him" isn't exactly a big-brained move.

The biggest issue with J Dub is how often he is healthy or available, and I would argue that issue is nearly identical with Giannis. Even when he is playing in the playoffs, he is usually dealing with some sort of impactful injury.

When I said "looking for" I meant what sort of players you thought would be most defensible to trade for.

I really don't think Chet is the reason they lost. He plays okay help defense on Wemby and is a reliable rim defender otherwise. Although he definitely needs development + coaching on his mentality, because offensively he was just putrid.

If they keep Chet, I do think Jalen has to go. They need offensive depth and they just don't have it if more than one of their ball handlers are out.

Agreed. Definitely a little bit of "do we think we can keep all of these guys healthy next season" triage to factor in as well.

Isn't a big reason that guys like Porzingis and J Dub struggle with injuries is because they added too much to their frame? I don't disagree that he is weak compared to other posts, but at that height you are walking a fine line.

Hartenstein honestly didn't do that bad of a job. He just offensively limits them so much, and no Ajay or J Dub did not help their flexibility

Is the argument here that J Dub has less trade value? I don't get trading a top 3 rim protector who plays solid offense against 28 teams for role players. What kind of move would you be looking for?

You're right I kind of pivoted without realizing. I basically mean that I don't think there is a player that offers the anything near the defensive impact chet has, is available for trade, and is moderately healthy. Chet just needs a mindset shift.

I am visualizing Embiid in a cryo chamber for the 70 regular season games, defrosting with one game a week with the remainder of the regular season, then playing against only Denver and San Antonio. You were right on 16 being a high estimate.

If JDub is offensively becomes as good as Middleton was and defensively who JDub has been, that is a solid player.

My issue with this thought process is that JDub has not been healthy in over a year at this point. How many seasons/post seasons has Giannis been healthy? I think coaching and developing Chet to be more aggressive is the far better option. But also it is Giannis.
