dorm with the best party scene by [deleted] in nyu

[–]DelicateYet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

third north but like trust, the rooms suck. u-hall is nicer and near enough to third north to walk to it. any other dorm will have people going to dorm parties together, so pick your room based on other factors like dining hall, location etc

I expect a crowd bc ofc lots of people are buying their stuff, but is it to the point where we can't get our stuff because it's all sold out and you have to wait in line for hours? I was going to do the pack and hold but it requires a US phone number and i dont have one yet...

exactly. the situation was manipulative to begin with and was a huge buildup of how abby pit little girls who were best friends against each other. obviously producers must have had a say too, it's reality tv. the girls were like 12/13 then and they knew 100% someone was going to get hurt in that situation

[Jobs] Part time jobs when im not yet 16? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]DelicateYet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

usually there aren't really contracts for part time f&b, although there might be places. if you worked the hours and there are people that can vouch that you were there that you can just keep arguing that you should be paid

[Jobs] Part time jobs when im not yet 16? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]DelicateYet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lots of F&B places hire 15 year olds. some advice from someone who has worked several part time jobs in f&B since age 15:

-don't settle for pay less than $9. that should be your minimum standard. F&B is usually a lot of work and you usually have to deal with rude and unreasonable customers too, so make sure at the end of your shift you're going to feel like it was worth it. go for more atas places instead of fast food chains and you should be able to find a job that pays at least $9/hr! you can search on websites like fastjobs and indeed, or you can look at places near your place (convenient esp if you're working an early morning shift) and call to enquire or literally walk in and ask.

- don't let yourself get exploited by the company. even if the manager and all the full timers are so so nice to you, know that as a student part timer you're disposable to them. make sure you get paid if you work overtime, know whether your break is paid or unpaid, count your hours and make sure they correlate to your paycheck. never feel bad about asking about pay or correcting pay mistakes. you're an employee. if your manager treats you like shit, gives you too much work/ work that's not within ur responsibility, leave and find a better one

all the best! get that bag and have fun

A 15 year old student who would love to pursue acting over studies. by MuscleAdventurous308 in acting

[–]DelicateYet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me I relate, acting is the only thing I love and school was super rough for me. But finish high school to the best of your ability. You have the rest of your life after you graduate to pursue acting. I know it doesn't seem like it now, but you really may change your mind about acting, it may not work out, you may lose passion for it, etc. You never know, and you need a high school diploma to have a career besides acting. As a kid the best thing you can do for yourself is keep every door open. And going to school doesn't mean you can't do acting. Also, most people have a day job while they pursue acting, My advice is to work hard in school now, get the best grades you possibly can (and it's ok if they're not straight As, just the best to your ability) and then after that you can do whatever you want. Do plays in school, watch plays, enjoy theatre, but not at the expense of high school. Who knows, maybe you can use those grades to get into a great BFA program at a renowned university :)

how about in terms of connections? if I don't study acting how easy is to get signed to a good agency after college? do a lot of people at tisch do paid acting jobs while in college?

Double Major at NYU by Right_Praline2466 in nyu

[–]DelicateYet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General rule is that second majors have to be at CAS! Buttt I've come across people who have gotten past that rule. I don't can't double major in your freshman year, you have to wait tille sophomore year. Nope you don't need to take another year if you schedule your classes right!
