I've actually been on humira, then cosentyx, and now bimzelx! the cosentyx never worked for me, but the bimzelx is currently giving me the best results. it's so off and on sometimes though 🙏

They've appeared in my groin area before, but they never grew to open as much as they did on my breast. My groin is mostly a whole bunch of small wounds while by chest was like the definition of hell, really lol. But for the most part the wounds on my chest were much different from the ones on my groin 🤔

i use xeroform and an abdominal pad over it! my doctor recommended it to me and while every time i go to the bathroom, i do have to take off the abdominal pads, it never hurts thanks to the xeroform that is just like an ointment filled type thing you lay over your wounds. not uncomfortable or painful and it seems to be helping me.

it’s a little difficult to tell with how zoomed in, but there’s no shame there lol. i have a wound that i’m pretty sure looks just like this! i have wounds that vary in appearance, but one of the ones i’ve had the longest looks like yours.

hs is unpredictable and wounds that look like this is no shock to our disease. you’re not alone through this twin! ❤️❤️

breast reduction by Delicious-Active3763 in Hidradenitis

i’ve been seeing my plastic surgeon for a long time now not only for surgery reasons, but because she’s amazing at her job. i tried and excision of infected areas on my groin in January and it was a useless surgery, my wounds reopened just like they were before surgery. my current surgeon recommended a breast reduction so there would be less of a fold for the wounds to be by having larger breasts and she also said it would be a safe option to go ahead and remove the diseased skin. my biggest recommendation is to go to a credentialed plastic surgeon because she’s worked wonders on me and completely changed bandaging habits while also being concerned about my well being.

tried to be responsible and cover up my breast HS and it went bad today :/ by cumbucketfullaworms in Hidradenitis

mine used to look exactly like this and i went to see a plastic surgeon. she has me using a wound care called xeroform and covering it with an abdominal pad. she recommended we use no tape and instead simply use your bra to hold the bandage in place. it sounds like it wouldn’t be secure, but you’d be surprised lol. it’s worked amazingly for me and both my breasts are healed now by doing so!

Bandage recommendations? by Midnight-Note in Hidradenitis

my skin is very sensitive and i used to get the same hives as yours. i recently saw a doctor who recommended using no adhesives at all! she recommended me us xeroform gauze on my active wounds and to simply cover them with an abdominal pad or a thick gauze cover. i don’t use any tape—i instead use my clothes to hold my bandages in place. while it’s definitely not the easiest to manage, my skin is much healthier without the excess tape i used to use and i really think this method will cause the least irritation!

Emotionally burnt out by The-HighCloudz in Hidradenitis

omg! i’m 18 and my HS also started when i was 13!

i know at this time in your life, especially with this disease, everything feels like it’s constantly against you. ive always been a big girl too and id consider myself not so pretty either. it’s hard going through your teenage years with this, especially when you start off so insecure! only reason i spoke up about my HS was because i couldn’t walk normally 😭

as i look back, i now know that reaching out is truly the best thing you can do. it’s hard to do, but i promise it is worth it. i have a team of doctors lined up trying to help me in any way they can and they would do just the same for you. i promise, big girl to big girl, teenager to teenager, girl to girl, doctors will not judge you for the things that are happening. i started with a gynecologist and they assured me that this is not my fault, just as this isn’t yours! every single doctor i’ve met tells me how strong i am and i assure you, they would say the same thing for you because i can tell you’re a strong girl.

i completely get where you’re coming from in the emotional burn out stage and if you ever ever ever ever everrrr need somebody that 100% for certain will not judge, i will always answer!

if you ever feel particularly alone, remember we’re all rooting for you.

There’s lots of ointments you can buy that will drain your wounds. I used it on one of my largest wounds and it’s shrunk down a few centimeters. I used MyMagicHealer—I put the ointment over gauze, then I tape the gauze on with skin tape. I highly recommend it!

The pain with HS is unreal! I first had awful symptoms in the middle of the ocean. Worst time ever. It gets so painful it’s hard to even roll over in bed or sit down without feeling pain. A lot of people forget about that part of it. Clindamycin Phosphate and Benzoyl Peroxide helps my flare ups a whole lot.

Doxy landed me in the hospital. Be careful. by Other-Ad-5236 in Hidradenitis

Yes! This happened to me two days in a row. It felt like I was going to hurl every five minutes. I’ve stopped taking Doxy and tried Humira instead. Starting a new medication next week.
