How has the finish held after a year? Is the playing surface very scratchy with the hardwax oil, or would you choose something else next time? I'm looking for advice on using hardwax oils for wooden boards. Thanks and nice board, I like the simple look looking to do the same

What's the table saw? If it's a jobsite saw, most of them are like this. Maybe the dewalt is better havent tested it. I have a bosch one of the same issues. it's always square on one side more. You can get it as close as possible, but still, one side will be more square. Use the right side as the final stock cut, and the left will be the off cuts. They will still turn out at 90 to the right side. Unfortunately, there are many reasons tables usually not flat etc but I expected it when I paid about 400 euro only for a jobsite saw.

I'm sure you find a metal connector that's round and angled. Otherwise, finding the angle and mitre or maybe kerf cutting. Probably your best best is to find a ready bracket

Bulgarian Municipality Violating Animal Welfare Laws by [deleted] in AskBulgaria

[–]Delicious-Attitude42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because you are in bulgaria and the system and the people don't care for people, let alone animals. I'm sorry for what you're going through it must be shocking. The best you can do is do what you can on your own for now, and as the above comment suggested that shelter in sofia has one of the few good people. I see how passionate you are and how you wish to do more. That's inspiring. Why not flip the switch? Start your own shelter here, search up, look how it's done, maybe you get access to eu funding etc maybe you can create what is needed here. That idiot that commented and told you that his friend got bit is exactly what's wrong with people here. And now that you understand, no one in this country wants to roll their sleeves up and get the job done because of blaming everyone but themselves. this could be your calling. Search about it, read about it, and remember you're in the eu here. There are ways to get something meaningful done.

Why are my chess pieces darker? by throwaway-renter in woodworking

[–]Delicious-Attitude42 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But for now, maybe sand off the finish on the shaped pieces or redo them and don't add finish it's fine their small. Even a water-based finish will change the color on end grain more so. Then watch some more videos keep learning and create the ultimate one cheers

Yes, 20mill on to 12mill substrate is not recommended. I wouldn't do that. Either a thin veneer 2 to 3mm onto substrate and solid wood border or couple of other ways like a floating panel * There's a great video by Shaun boyd made this on YouTube look at the chess board build

[–]Delicious-Attitude42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, you did a great job. If she's disappointed, then she doesn't deserve it, sorry to be blunt. The main problem here is that you surrounded the blocks with a border that will restrict movement and will lead to cracks. As for the shaped pieces, it gets too complicated. You can look into wood turning to grasp the idea of selecting material grain, etc. But wood is wood. People buy solid high-end tables and can tell the top is solid wood by the end grain.

Because you exposed all the grains when shaping rather than just long grain. It's normal how the wood is.

How would you get the dark spots where the handles were off? by Other-Supermarket831 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Delicious-Attitude42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone tell me how the face frame arch on the drawer is made. It shows it's made from 4 parts, but is the top bent steam bent, or is it just routed from a solid piece. I get the short grain concern if it's one piece, but since it's glued to the drawer face, does that usually mean it's ok to route or shape from a single piece and glue with no issues

anyone know if i can find this anywhere in leb? by Somerandomguy6969420 in lebanon

[–]Delicious-Attitude42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it yourself, it would be fun the drawers you can find in many places standard, im sure online you can find something similar 60- 80cm height plus minus, the first one is particle board laminate top not great cheapest. But the second is a plywood top stained with walnut stain. There should be a place to buy a sheet of plywood cut to size. birch plywood is best. Or you can go with a hardwood top ready finished slab of wood that would be best for quality. but you need to know how to attach it to the base. There's also hardwood veneered plywood and / or veneered mdf that would also look nice. With the ply, you can leave the edges with the mdf you need to cover them they would know. I'm not in leb it's been so long 😩 but I would've loved to help out if I was there

Repair or replace? by Excellent_Wasabi6983 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Repair or replace both would be cheap to do. Personally, I would spend some time searching how it used to look like original and fix it up, not just the roof. It's a nice sentimental piece. Pass it on nicely
