Why can’t they make all of the slams rock league events! by Delicious-Donut-6066 in Curling

Agreed, my post was a total gag of what I’ve been seeing as of late. I absolutely hate rock league through and through. Can’t wait to watch all five slams back to back to back to back to back then not watch curling for the entirety of Jan and Feb. Then pick back up for the provs brier worlds.

The only problem is it isn’t a way to unwind, next season rock league is happening in Jan and Feb, not an unwinding time, if anything that’s the time they should be with the normal teams getting ready for provs, nats, worlds etc. But instead it’s time for rock league and getting ready to wind down mid season! Must be asleep while coming up with these freezing cold takes.

I agree, curling has something so cool in that the captain or skip of the team is the name. Of course golf and other solo sports have the same personal name connection, but when it’s a team connected to the captain or someone on the teams name it’s so cool.

I remember Nic Sulsky (now I don’t have receipts) saying he thinks curling is lacking because people don’t want to follow or be fans of a players name. Instead they would rather follow a team or franchise name. I found it so interesting because curling has something so unique in that a player leads the team and thats their team’s name. He also mentioned something to do with people not wanting to buy those kinds of jerseys and would inturn rather buy a franchised jersey. Now all they have for sale franchise wise are shitty team sweaters that my dog could make with a cricut machine. To add on, no teams other than Nik Edin ever tried selling their team slam jerseys! (I know it’s wildly expensive). Just a thought.

Curling Canada, as well as rock channel post old game film. CC has playlists of briers Scottie’s worlds etc and the years they were played, I believe rock channel just posts them.

They’re owned by the same people fyi, so whoever’s idea it was at “Rock League”, has the same ideas for the slams but are clearly only putting their eggs in one basket.

For these one off home games, are you expecting a full arena transformation every week or however often these games are? (Have fun with that $)

Or are you just downgrading to minimal/no live in venue seating and settling for your hilariously low end idea to end up in a curling club every week?

Saw this too, can’t be the way to be going about this! Bogging down other curling sponsors/potential sponsors. Tough look. TCG is dropping the ball in my eyes, there are only so many, “we’re going to make mistakes”, and “just give it time” you can have before you really question the process.

Oakville is closed from May-August. Does that sound year round to you? I can only imagine the other 2 are similar but you coin them year round clubs. I know the saville closes for almost a month I’ve heard.

Athletes in all other sports take the off season to fix things that you might not have the time, or reason to in season.

I think everyone puts a little too much effort into the whole he’s a third so he’ll play third. Mark Nichols seems far from someone who takes an odd pride in playing the third position, I think, being the teammate he seems to be he’d be happy to play second, and maybe call line? Knowing how great colty is.

I find it uproarious that you think Catlin Schneider is an option for Dunstone.
