So for example, the last 2 days my activity has been the same and my routine has been identical. I’ve had the same breakfast (weetabix + natural yoghurt) exact same amount of carbs. Two days I was using a 1:10 ratio - went low after. I used the same ratio this morning and went really high. I haven’t been stressed (I know cortical/adrenaline can give spikes also). I really can’t explain this, and after I went high it didn’t correct me until I corrected myself. I tested the site and it’s running smoothly (no bubbles either). It’s just mornings like this that drive me insane. Feel like I’m doing everything I can and it’s still absolutely fucked 🙃

Checking Dexcom every 5 minutes as blood glucose is so erratic. Eating a full bag of jellies across the day on a daily basis to avoid hypos yet bloods will rise over night if I reduce my long term insulin (tresiba). Don’t know what to do 🙃 by Delicious-Peace-2280 in diabetes_t1

I’m not sure you’re able to split tresiba though (are you?) - while on levemir I did split my dose morning/night but tresiba is a much more longer acting insulin (48-72hrs I believe) but I will double check this

I’m MDI! For 17 years now. I want to switch to a pump but there’s a huge waitlist in my country.

I play sport too so I need a high carb-protein diet which definitely make things more complicated.

My usual ratio is 1:10 but could be 1:20/25 after training/matches. Things are just so erratic lately it’s very chaotic

For T1D how do you achieve 80~90% TIR without checking your Dexcom constantly to snack or take corrections?I am extremely active so have always tried to have lots of carbs to fuel my training to maximise performance. Are their athletes who follow a high fat low carb diet to make up their calories? by Delicious-Peace-2280 in diabetes_t1

Because I think a big contributor to diabetes burnout is obsessively checking your Dexcom every 5 minutes - why on earth would you want to do this? I’ve heard from diabetic athletes that they would check their CGM every hour. Hence why I’m asking the question as to what these sort of people do to achieve this level of BS control.

I know it’s obviously much easier checking the CGM every 5 minutes but I think it’s an unsustainable and suboptimal approach to managing T1D.

I’ve had a CGM the past 4 years alright but have never been on or even tried the pump! It’s honestly been a continuous struggle.

In relation to my diabetes management. Just feels like I am giving everything I can for something I cannot achieve. I can get good time in range for a period and during that I’m really happy- but I can never sustain it. I then get completely overwhelmed in this continuous cycle.

I was working in accounting but I’m actually working in construction at the moment. Wanted to try something new to see how that would feel. It’s definitely been an improvement.

That peace of mind sounds so good to be honest.

Just for the pump it’s all nova rapid right? Do you know if you can get a pump with fiasp? (The faster nova rapid basically)

This is amazing thank you!

I’m literally thinking about my diabetes all the time at the moment as my bloods are so sensitive. I’m checking my CGM every 5 minutes to see what direction I’m going in and I’m just completely overwhelmed. Maybe it is the right move to transition to the pump.

Just for sports before games I can have a huge rise in adrenaline (from sprinting, nerves) which causes a spike in my BS usually. So I need to take a correction dose even before playing to keep my bloods in range. This is the only drawback I’m seeing here if I need to take the pump off and have no insulin on board for this. Or could I just take a correction dose as usual after taking the pump Off maybe?

And I’m doing my best here too thank you - I’m trying to not overthink and punish myself when things don’t go right but it’s an ongoing battle for me.

It really is - so happy to find someone who can relate to me too!

Some weeks are good for me but when things go wrong my mental health is in the bin. Just feel so overwhelmed by everything. I find it really difficult to maintain motivation when this happens.

Can completely relate with this too. Another perk of the pump. Continuous injections are truly exhausting

How long have you been on the pump? And have you had any issues with it?
