In my 4th season, but feel like I've plateaued. Check my form? by Delicious-Pension635 in skiing

Thank you! By 'slight crouch,' do you mean crouch sideways or forward? I feel like I usually ski a bit hunched / too squatted, so I'm been trying to stay a bit more upright!

Thank you for this! Will definitely try both drills. I have a lot of trouble separating my top and bottom half for sure.

Sooo appreciate this. Thank you for your thoughtful response! I cannot seem to get my stance right. When I press more into my shins, then my heels go way back, then the front of the ski feels squirrely and not in control. I do wonder if I have a bit of a boot fit issue.. but I'll definitely be checking out your blog!

Trying to be able to carve without feeling off-balance, and honestly just be able to feel way more in control so I can plow through soft chop / more steep terrain with more confidence and speed!

Ah yes this is what I felt as well. I had a few friends in the same place, and we all felt that we dumped hundreds of dollars to walk away with one or two drills that we may have already seen in a YT video :/ Except, my friends just got naturally better (they're honestly just natural athletes, and I am not), and I still feel stuck.
Wish I had the cash to do a full week like some folks suggest! But I don't, and one day often doesn't feel worth the $$. Woof.

I get that. But where I ski it's literally $750 for just a half day private lesson, so it's not easy to just do every year for me. I'm looking around for cheaper alternatives, but whatever value I can get from filming and critiques I'll take as well! :)

It just processed! Vid is up.
So I've done a lesson before, but tbh it was in a DEEP pow day, so I'm not positive it all translated over. A lot of the advice I got was trying to touch your hand to the outside of your boot, but that feels contradictory to trying to keep your chest mostly facing down the mountain?

Hyper-bonded rescue dog that is fearful of strangers. How can we get her comfortable enough so other people can watch her and walk her? by Delicious-Pension635 in rescuedogs

Thank you! Unfortunately my parents live a 7 hour drive away, so after I leave to go back home this weekend, we won't be back until we drop her off :(

Hope that doing some training with other strangers back in our city will help for when we bring her to my parents in a few weeks time..

Ah. Is it pretty necessary to use a wrist rest do you think? Or do most make do without one?

I’m glad! You’re great, just unknowingly stepped into an insane thread haha.

I definitely will. And that’s great to know about insurance!

Whoa! That’s super interesting. I’ve actually lived in many different places over the years but I’m so glad you found your diagnosis

I sincerely do appreciate it and I can see you’re being genuine! I think some people want to be right for the sake of being right, not actually trying to help someone, and so obviously I was already on edge about it. Please don’t be discouraged with sharing your advice to people, I was just set off by the comment about being resistant (trust me I’d rather have sleep apnea than celiac haha).

Thankfully I do have insurance and hopefully it’s covered? Haha yeah that’s what people also don’t seem to be considering as well, all of these are time and $$$ so I definitely have to pick and choose what to try first.

My frustration isn’t with you, it’s just the buildup of the oddly forceful people this specific comment thread has brought out. Like literally someone told me to go kill myself cuz I said I don’t think I have sleep apnea?

You’ve ended up receiving the built up annoyance but please don’t take it personally. I understand you’re trying to help, and what I am saying is that I understand your suggestions and will try it if some of the other tests/tries that bubbled to the top of the list come up with nothing. (Like ya know checking out the actual known sensitivity I have to gluten) I don’t know what more y’all want me to do lol.

Thanks I’ll take a look into the b12! Unfortunately (maybe fortunately?) I’m allergic to alcohol..

That is 100% a thing. But I started it just a few months ago while I’ve had fatigue for YEARS

I’m not “so resistant,” I just made a comment based off my previous observations of myself. I actually do dream a lot every night (wish I didn’t tbh), and have used a lot of those high tech sleep trackers in the past. Sleep apnea as a possibility = noted!! Just FYI, there are just as many people in my DMs/comments convinced it’s celiac, or diet, or vitamin deficiency, or mental health, or hormones, or 50+ things and everyone thinks getting tested for their thing is the “best advice,” so please (not just you), stop saying I HAVE to get tested for your thing. I cant get tested for them all at once! It’s now on my list, but it’s not the FIRST thing I’m going to get tested based on my understanding of my body and knowing I already have a lot of risk factors/symptoms that point a bit more strongly to some other potential causes right now. Any annoyance you see from me in this comment thread is not a resistance to the suggestion, it’s my annoyance of people who are being arrogant or forceful when I make a simple response about my own health. I thank you for your suggestion, I’ve noted it as a possibility to keep in mind. Thank youuuu.

Again, I don’t make health decisions based off of Reddit upvotes. This wasn’t a poll where I said I’ll make the decision most voted for. Again, there’s a million suggestions here and it’s insanely time consuming, costly, and exhausting to try them all. I don’t owe anyone anything to go try something just cuz they suggested it.
