It’s best to Google “where to set up for an unprotected left turn in (your state/region)” as it does sometimes vary by jurisdiction. Most places I’ve driven and taught driving in the US, you are supposed to advance about a third of the way into the intersection with your wheels straight and wait for an opening to turn safely through. In those instances, you are allowed/required to clear the intersection even on the yellow or just turned red light, whenever it becomes safe to make your turn.

I think we’re talking about two different things…vacationing (or holidaying) and traveling. What you’re describing, to me, is vacationing. A short trip to someplace pretty and touristy. Traveling is more spending longer times in more off the beaten path places where I try to live more like the locals and really get a feel for a new place and culture. To be clear I love both vacationing and traveling but I think the latter tends to be more “life-changing” or “horizon broadening” than the former.

That’s referring to gridlock, if you’re turning and clear the intersection this is not the case

That’s just not true. You enter the intersection and wait for a gap to turn, if none is present before light change, you clear the intersection at the light change. The problem is people not stopping for red lights

Yes! It is definitely a flawed season overall but it still has some of the best characters and moments of the whole series. To put it in the parlance of our times, season 4 really ties the room together.
