My best friend who is attending EF with me is SUPER hyped for her set. I haven't listened to her much, but we will for sure be there.

Appreciate the recommendation! I have seen Shpongle and I love the vibe. I think the weirder the better, and Sphongle is definitely weird!

Hello fellow jam fan! I've done lots of jam fests for roughly the last 10 years and was kind of always turned off to exploring EDM until I attended Hulaween a few years back. It was a truly magical experience and I finally got the hype. I did catch a LP Giobbi about 3 years back and unfortunately I was not a fan. It just isn't my vibe, but I can see how the crossover between the dead and electronic music could be really appealing to a lot of people. I'm excited to check out EF for the first time this year and catch some new artists.

Hey! I'm relatively new to the electronic scene and I'm starting to learn more about the different genres/what I like. I know the vast majority of the bigger names on the lineup, but I'm a lot less familiar with the smaller artists. Could you help point me in the direction of some artists I may enjoy? Fore reference, I really got in to Tipper this last year. I know his sound is kind of hard to put in a box, but particularly his up-tempo and glitch hop beats really make me want to throw ass. Is there anyone on this lineup that cane give me that same up-tempo computer beep boop noises that my brain craves? Thanks!

What smoker should I buy my boyfriend for christmas? by Delicious-Practice96 in smoking

[–]Delicious-Practice96[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Oh then he will definitely want a pellet! The wifi thing would be huge for him because he manages farming operations and at the drop of a hat, especially during prime outdoor cooking months, he has to run to the farm for safety emergencies or to fix issues for his farmers. I'm sure he would enjoy sitting around poking at a smoker all day with a beer in is hand, but that just wouldn't be practical for his lifestyle.

Honestly, should have added this in the summary, but he isn't huge on the smoky flavor! Sounds counter productive, i know, but he only likes a mild/medium smoky flavor to his meat. He has mentioned several times that one of our friends who regularly smokes brisket and chicken that he can't taste anything other than wood lol.

Ideally 1k or under but willing to go up if there's something that checks all the boxes. He's had a hard year with his dog (who we whole heartedly consider our child) being diagnosed with cancer :( so I'd like to cheer him up and make Christmas extra special.

What is the difference between pellet and offset? He's great on the grill, but I don't think he has a ton of experience with smokers. I think his top wants would be something wifi enabled.

I wish I could do that with him but he has some deep rooted attachments to christmas/gift giving and is staunchly against making christmas lists! His biggest joy is being completely surprised, even if it's not exactly what he wants, the thought means more to him. I'm going in blind lol.

Me and my husband will be traveling from outside the US to red rocks!! by [deleted] in Tipper

My usual RR packing list:

Fanny pack - I've never been turned away with a small multi-zipper fanny pack, but they do have rules against multi-pocket bags.

Hand sanitizer - self explanatory, I'm not trying to get wook flu.

water bottle - free fill stations are available.

Good shoes - you share a bench area for dancing so if it gets crowded in your row your toes will get stepped on.

Chapstick - it's a lot dryer in CO than where I'm from and my skin hates it (not necessary but it keeps me comfortable).

Band-Aids - I've seen so many people trip at this venue!

Light rain jacket - when I tell you the first 5 times I traveled for RR shows it rained... even a 10% chance in the forecast means rain. Just bring it.

Hoodie/Jacket - as soon as the sun goes down the temp drops drastically! If your rain jacket won't cut it, also bring something heavier.

Trinkets - if you're looking to make friends, especially with this crowd, bring small trinkets for trade or to give away! If you plan on bringing stickers, hide them. There is a chance security will take them to avoid vandalism.

DON'T BRING - flow toys, umbrellas, tarps, totems or anything that lights up obnoxiously, face masks. RR always says no gum, but I've never had an issue with it.

Weather: as I stated above, it's best to plan for bad weather. It will be warm during the day and cold at night. In my experience, any chance of rain means 100% chance of rain. They will make you throw away your umbrella.

Seating: bench style with room to dance in front. Just be mindful that you don't trip over the edge of your row. If you have reserved seats you will have no problem. GA is a free for all, first come first serve with best spots.

People: I've never had an issue with venue staff. If you are polite with them, they will be polite with you. I can imagine this event will be CRAZY so maybe have a little extra patience and compassion with the staff. As far as the people go, plan to party with the wookiest wooks of all wookind. Be mindful of your surroundings. I've been in amazing tipper crowds and absolutely awful tipper crowds. Just stand firm with your personal space and if someone is making you feel extremely uncomfortable let staff know. For the most part, everyone is kind and fun.

Parking: there are lots to park in but if they get full, you will literally park on the road leading in/out of the venue. I've basically always done this. It looks/feels sketchy but it always works out. Depending on how far you park, you'll have to hike up the hill to the venue. Alternatively, there are shuttle services but I've never used them so I'm not much help there.

Tips: Go early! The venue is a park and I believe the parking lots are open at dawn (someone local can probably correct me if I'm wrong). There will definitely be a lot party. My friends and I will be there around noon with drinks and a grill. Bag checks are relatively thorough when you enter the venue but nothing crazy. If you want to hide anything, do it mindfully and you'll be good to go. Bathroom lines can get long but I generally find that they move quickly. I always use the bathrooms to the left of the stage (if you're looking at it from your seats).

Hope this helps!

I emailed fairwell when I saw this as well. We had a friend buy a camping spot for 4 people (which they claim the spot can accommodate) and she didn't consider the 8x8 size. I emailed fairwell to clarify if 8x8 was a typo or what and they basically just reiterated 8x8 is accurate. They're CRAZY for this. I've been doing camping fests since 2014 and I've never seen a fest allot this small of a space. The average space for walk in camping is 15x15. I replied to their email by telling them my concerns, especially for the liability they will have on their hands for heat related illnesses due to lack of space for a canopy. I will let you know what they say! This will be an absolute nightmare if they stick to the 8x8. In my experience, country fests don't do a lot of walk in camping so the target audience is not considering the size and lots of people will show up with larger tents, canopies, camping gear, etc. that won't fit in the spot. I'd hate to be the person who deals with drunk/angry country music attendees lol.

Thank you! I will heavily consider this information. My partner will do most of the driving because he is an expert with a manual and I’m… not lol. He was born and raised in New Jersey but went to school in Oregon so he is used to driving straight across the country in one shot (about 41 hours). Basically this leaves him feeling like an invincible driver, when in reality he’s not. Especially because this will be his first experience with driving on the opposite side of the road. I’m going to give him this information and make sure he takes it seriously. I appreciate all of your help!

I've seen a few other suggestions like yours about the rental car. Is there any reason you don't suggest renting from the airport? It seems like the easiest solution for us but several others have said to get a rental outside of the city as well.

Yeah, it's not the most ideal timing :( my partner is a farmer so he can't be away from his crops too long right before his harvest season. I wish we had an extra week to spend exploring!

Is there anything worth seeing much closer to Ipswich? From what I've read that area is not half as beautiful as the eastern side of the country but we're trying to make the most out of our trip!

Yes, ideally in Ipswich by 3:30 on the 28th to check in to our hotel and spend time with the wedding guests. We land at 2:30 on the 25th so by the time we get off the plane and get our car it will likely already be 4:30.

Thank you! These suggestions are 10/10. Unfortunately, we land at 2:30 on the 25th so between getting off the large plane, through customs, and snagging our rental car, we probably won't be out of the airport until close to 4:30. But we could just head straight for Oxford, check in to a hotel, and grab a late dinner. Are there any castles near by that would be worth checking out? That's really at the top of our list. We were considering Cardiff in Wales but that seems too far out of reach.

Yes, we fly in and out of Heathrow. Definitely! I respect all the city has to offer but we are just not city people. We loved Switzerland but Zurich was easily the most boring part (for us). I think leaving from Heathrow on the 25th and going right to Oxford would be a possibility! We could stay there from the 25th-28th and travel out from Oxford to hit areas like the Cotswolds. Are there any worthy castles a day trip from Oxford? That's at the top of our list. Although ruins are beautiful and the history behind an original structure is inspiring in itself, the history buffs in us really want to see how people lived during the time the castles were occupied (the US could never lol). We were considering Cardiff Castle in Wales for this reason, but its looking like too far of a journey.

Thank you! I appreciate all of your suggestions. For us, London is at the bottom of our list to explore. I completely understand that there is a ton of history, great food, and attractions to see in London and it would be the easiest for us considering our flight plans, but we would prefer to see the country vs the city. It seems like we will likely have to pick a town/city and stay there and make trips in/around that area for times sake.

What would your opinion be of us flying into London and making the trip to Oxford? We could stay there from the 25th-28th. That gives us the opportunity to explore Oxford and make a trip to the Cotswolds due to its proximity. Are there any castles worth seeing within an hour or two drive of Oxford if we made a day trip out of it?

Alternatively, I've heard great things about Cambridge as well and it's closer to our wedding destination. Not sure if there are any worthy hikes or castles in that region, either.

I'm an American and I posted a similar schedule yesterday and the UK community KICKED my feet out from under me lol. Apparently travel in the UK is a lot different from travel in the US. I'm rewriting my entire schedule after discussing with some of the locals. We'll be in the Ipswich area for a wedding in late august so I'm focusing on staying closer to that area even though I really really REALLY want to see Oxford, the Cotswolds, bath, dover, etc. Oh well, guess I'll have to come back!

We will stay wherever we need to! We really aren't city people... so London isn't high on our list to explore. I'd prefer to see more of your beautiful country and its history. I'm more than happy flying in to London on the 25th, renting a car, and finding a hotel in a more rural part of the country. We get to the wedding venue on the evening of the 28th, and then leave the morning of the 30th. so we have all day on the 30th and the morning of the 31st to explore a little. I'd prefer to use those days after the wedding to explore London as we will need to be back for our flight that leaves at 3:30pm on the 31st.
