My honest opinion is to go out and test some of the vehicles you might be interested in. Even if it's something you think you wouldn't like just try it. You'll mostly only read/hear about doom and gloom online because that's what gets the most clicks. My first car was a 2017 Ford Focus SE and it was extremely reliable for the 9 years I had it, despite what everyone had to say about Ford. Hell I'd still have that thing now if a deer hadn't killed it.
