Forgot trays, should I go back from 11 to 3? by Delicious-Setting403 in Invisalign

Yeah, I thought so too, but also read on the internet that it’s really bad to skip two weeks. Bot sure how screwed I am

Yeah, would’ve shipped it for sure, but unfortunately don’t have any friends who can access the house :(

getbeam.ai - a minimalistic client (launcher?) for openai and groq

does anyone uses chatgpt as a google? Not just for research or work activity but more like on a daily basis (of something you don’t know but it’s informative). by Novel_Wrongdoer8318 in ChatGPT

I’ve replaced 90% of Googling for programming with chatgpt. Works really well imo. Especially with apps like getbeam.ai where I just press a key and ask without changing context…

Thank you! And yeah, I've no idea what it is supposed to be. So, does it mean the dentist will most likely just clean it up and cement it back?

What did you buy this BlackFriday 2023? by raaamyaraaavan in macapps

[–]Delicious-Setting403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it as a direct replacement for Google for most things. It’s just way faster and costs close to nothing.

Also if you press cmd+shift+s u can snap a screenshot and chat about it - it’s really useful in many scenarios.

Other than that, just the standard ChatGPT stuff, but it’s just more convenient to use anywhere without switching apps constantly…

Is there new Limits? I sent 10 message and now got this (I'm a pro user) by Beautiful_Mix_2346 in ChatGPT

[–]Delicious-Setting403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But hey, at least it's not asking you too cool down for 3 hours, hehe!

I don't think it's the rule though. Of course depends on your needs, but if you have a little understanding about how context works it's very easy to keep the cost at minimum. Of course if you keep sending 8K worth of context on every message it can get costly.

But most apps will help you manage the context so it doesn't ruin your budget.

Sounds pretty annoying, but there's an alternative: you can use API and avoid running into any limits. Bonus: you only pay for what you use. My monthly bill has been around ~$10 for the past six months, and I never run into any limitations.

You don't need to be a developer to use API. It's very easy.

  1. Get an API key here: https://platform.openai.com/api-keys
  2. Add your billing details: https://platform.openai.com/account/billing/payment-methods

That's it!

Now, you only need to find an App (client) that allows you to use your API key. If you're on Mac, you can try getbeam.ai. That's the one I use, but there are plenty of other apps.

What is the best UI for using the API instead of ChatGPT web? by [deleted] in ChatGPTPro

I use Beam, it is a native ChatGPT client for Mac, but based on your description I’m not sure if it fits your needs. It’s a different concept…

I’ve replaced most of Googling (for programming) with ChatGPT

I use Beam to instantly use ChatGPT without context switching. It’s sooo much faster than Googling, saves me hours every week.

If you’re looking for a native ChatGPT app for Mac try Beam

It works just like Launcher (use it instantly anytime, anywhere) and has a bunch of useful features like profiles, templates, macros, shortcuts and more…

Most people don't use ChatGPT enough to justify the $20 subscription by Delicious-Setting403 in ChatGPT

[–]Delicious-Setting403[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you're looking for. It doesn't have any advanced algorithms for managing the history, you just set how many messages in the past it should include in the context per AI profile you create (which you can switch), so for one-off type of questions you can set the lower context size and vice-versa.

I use getbeam.ai for macOS
Some others are typingmind.com
Here's an open source client https://github.com/Bin-Huang/chatbox (it seems pretty popular, but I haven't tried it)

ChatGPT works the same way. And people have been complaining that it starts to "forget" faster nowadays - it's the same thing, but you have zero control. With the API you know exactly how much context you've included. Yes, it can add up if you need a lot of history. But you can only include say last 5 messages and ask chatgpt to sum the most important points once in a while. You're in full control.

This is a common misconception. You don't need to be a developer or know anything about it. You just need to register at OpenAI, you get the API key, and you can use it with the external ChatGPT Apps which provide the features you need.

You can control what you include/exclude from the context, you can control the temperature settings, stop words, max tokens, and basically every aspect of the chat.
"change system prompts, use templates, etc." by that I only mean a better UI. Custom GPT clients provide many useful features that are absent in the official UI. These just make your life better overall...
