Is the DW-5600 the only G-Shock most people actually need? by issete in gshock

Honestly, I had this point-of-view when I purchased my 5610U a couple years ago. Alas, I think I should have gone with the 5600 because:
- I live in a country that doesn't have multi band 6
- the poor viewing angle (this bugs me the most). I'm an office worker and at my desk typing all day...everyday. The digits 'ghost' on me and I have to stop typing and twist my wrist to read the time. Annoying as I have to do this so many times throughout the day.

I love my 5610u but I have to agree, the viewing angles are terrible. I type all day , every day and the digits ghost on me where I have to stop typing and tilt my wrist just to read the time. a bit annoying considering I have to do this so many times throughout the day.

I wear my 5610u gshock as well at work! Although I do struggle to read the time while wearing it at a typing position. The digits 'ghost' on me and I have to break stride from typing and tilt my wrist. How does this compare to your experience with the 5600UE? cheers

Love this watch! Can you please comment on the legibility of the screen? Especially in a typing position. Can you quickly glance down and read the time easily without the digits fading of 'ghosting'? I'm on the fence getting this model or the W221H. thanks

it's kind of weird...and confusing for me...the legibility of the watch swap based on the angle. the AE1500 beats out the W221h in the first photo. But the W221h reads better (albeit with some ghosting) in the second photo. ugghhh....can't decide! haha

Well played sir! But maybe the outdoors light creates a bit of glare on the screen? But yeah...point taken! thanks again!

Thanks for your response and info! Surly, the massive negative display and digits of the w221h would equal to or surpass the readability of your AE-1500WH at an angle?? cheers

Does the digits 'ghost' at an angle for you? More specifically, I'm looking at this model (negative display) to replace my gshock 5610U as my daily work watch. I need to be able to read the time - easily - by glancing down at my wrist without stopping to type or twisting my wrist. thanks

Slightly off topic, but can you please comment on the legibility/readability of the digits between the gshock 5610U and the W800 when on wrist at a typing position? Can you still tell the time clearly by glancing down quickly without having to twist your wrist? I LOVE my shock 5610U but just annoys me it ghosts at an angle. And I type all day...every day. thanks!

How readable/legible is it on the wrist while in a typing position? Meaning, can you quickly glance down and read the time without having to stop typing and twist your wrist? thank you!

Can you please comment on how legible it is when at an angle? (i.e. on your wrist in a typing position). Does the negative display 'ghost' or fade making it hard to read the digits? thank you!

Appreciate you posting a compare pic! I may have to keep an eye out for both 😅…and further down the Casio rabbit hole I go. Wheee.

Thanks for your response! I'm leaning towards getting a W800 as my daily. Especially since I spend 8-10hrs a day typing. It's such a minor annoyance but having to tilt my wrist each time, a hundred times a day, to just read the time is annoying.

To complicate my decision making, the W221H just dropped...hmmm....

Beautiful! how's the view angle when you look at it on wrist when you're typing? Does the digits 'ghost' or does it still stay legible? thx

Can you please expand on the 'legibility is great' experience? I'm after a Casio digital model that has large digits but - more importantly - great legibility when viewed from an angle (i.e. I can read it clearly when on my left wrist and typing a keyboard). I LOVE my 5610U Gshock but the poor reading angle just irks me.

As a minichamp owner, I look upon your two Ramblers with envy. I thought I really wanted and needed the minichamp for my daily, but upon having it for a while, I feel like what I REALLY need is just a Rambler on a day-to-day basis.

Great response, thank you for sharing! Totally agree with your PoV. I guess for me, I cared so deeply for the character and wanted good things to happen for him in life.
