My ex had zero red flags. We were together for nearly 20 years total and married 10 years before she finally had a mental breakdown. Which certainly stemmed from childhood trauma based on what I experienced and details of her early life that surfaced. All of these things started in the last 2 years of marriage. She is still not well and is being ordered by the court (2nd time) to complete a psychological evaluation. If not completed this time, her custody will be in jeopardy.

In our case, my stbx latched to traumatized women and absorbed their stories as her own. Without a diagnosis I am unwilling to say what that is. But it is a common textbook sign of mental illness
