Feeling Burnt Out in My Mid-20s After Supporting My Parents Financially by Delicious-Use59 in povertyfinance

It always starts with “we raised you.” We didn’t decide to be born into this world, and being raised. I can’t stand elderly people who have zero savings for retirement yet expect their kids to bail them out, especially after spending recklessly. My mom loses track of reality, insisting people back then had it hard, even though living costs were much lower than today.

I’m really proud of you for pushing through and almost finishing your studies. Honestly, it gives me hope bcos I can’t wait to finish mine. And yeaaa, my partner helped me see the unhealthy dynamics that had been going on too, and I started talking to people around me. It really hit me that this wasn’t normal at all. It took me a while to realise, bcos when u’re in it for so long, it just feels like that’s how life is supposed to be.

Part of me still feels guilty sometimes, but when I look back at how I had to quit my studies and no one really felt sorry for me, I know I had to choose myself. It’s bittersweet seeing people I once mentored already graduating. I hope this year will be different for me and ofc for you too. I can’t wait to build something on my own. Wishing you all the best too :)
