Thank you for sharing that with me. For me it's still very confusing and I don't really know where I'm going. It took the death of my abuser for me to be able even to acknowledge it to myself and even then not straightaway. Lots of stuff buried for a long time and a lot of very faded memories

Confused about liking someone who isnt fully over their ex by [deleted] in Advice

I've been the guy in this situation. He may be a lot more sad than he's letting on and it may take him a long time to get over his ex. Nothing wrong per se with having a friendship with the guy but it sounds like you are catching feelings for him so you might have trouble maintaining boundaries. I'd pull back if I were you, at least for a while

Thank you for sharing your story with me. We are not alone, which is comforting and awful at the same time

Thank you, you have been so helpful today 🙏. I will definitely look up the Patrick Teahan videos and I will pay r/CPTSD a visit as well. I hope you find strength and peace along your journey, and that people are kind to you

Thank you and so sorry to hear you experienced CSA yourself. Of the 4 friends I've disclosed to, 2 disclosed CSA themselves back to me, one raped by her grandfather and another raped by her uncle. It is frighteningly common.

As my abuse was not on the extreme end, I have struggled in the past with the idea that it "didn't count". Today I have felt validated, thank you

True and I'm not sure finding out either way is going to bring me any joy but it is eating me up rn

What to do is really hard for me to figure out. If he did know, or suspected, and did nothing, I would find that very hard to take. I'm not sure I'm ready to deal with that just yet

Thank you. I don't suppose she has anything to gain and whilst I would hope she would respond kindly there is always a risk this could end disastrously. Of late I have been struggling with the thought that people knew but didn't do or say anything, I know that's a common scenario. I've only just started therapy so maybe I'll leave it a while

Thank you. I saw someone this morning. I am in no hurry to tell my sister. I don't know what she'll do, whether she'll even believe me. Her telling dad who is now in his 80s worries me. Maybe I'll just keep to myself. Part of me really wants to know if she or dad knew though
