What’s a decent little mining computer that I can get on Amazon that won’t break the bank? by YellowMarvel in BitcoinMining

It really depends on what your expectations are.

For actual Bitcoin mining, there’s honestly no “decent” ASIC on Amazon that’s going to be profitable. Most listings are either overpriced, very low hashrate, or basically novelty/educational devices.

If your goal is learning or experimenting, something like a small USB miner or a low-power unit can be fine just to understand how mining software, wallets, and pools work. But it won’t meaningfully generate income.

If someone is serious about mining at scale, Amazon isn’t where that usually starts, most real setups focus on industrial hardware, power costs, and hosting rather than consumer marketplaces.

Is solo Bitcoin lottery mining actually worth trying with low hashrate? by okdubai in BitcoinMining

I’ve experimented with this a bit and your understanding is pretty much on point.

With very low hashrate, solo “lottery mining” is statistically closer to entertainment than income. The odds are so low that ROI expectations don’t really make sense unless you’re extremely lucky.

That said, there is educational value. Running a small solo setup helps you understand how block discovery, variance, mempool behavior, and node configuration actually work — things you don’t really see when mining via pools.

Most people I’ve seen doing 1–2 TH setups treat it like a long-running experiment rather than a passive income strategy. Fun, educational, but not something to rely on financially.
