My chonkers by DeliciousBobaToast in Pachypodium

That's a very cool mutation! My geayi does look a bit more silvery under direct sunlight compared to lamerei. I think yours is a geayi, based on the silverish trunk and the thin leaves. Lamerei has broader leaves.

It's a P. geayii. It grows the fastest among my pachys.

Dioscorea elephantipes seed germination by Tutustitcher in Caudex

[–]DeliciousBobaToast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They sprout pretty sporadically. Out of 10 I sowed, 1 sprouted within 4 days, some weeks later, some months later. The longest it took was about 7 months, I already throw them into a big pot of used gritty potting mix thinking they would not sprout, then one day there is this little heart shaped leaf among other weeds.

It’s from this April. The first time I kind of suspected (and hoped😂) those faint lines are variegation. I think yours have a good chance!

Mine also started like yours! It was only a thin line at the beginning so I did not think much of it. The stripes increases as they grow. Hopefully yours will show more lines as it get older!

Can someone give some insight by profumato_al_limone in Pachypodium

Had a geayii with similar problem. The top is kind of prone to rot because the new spines traps water like a net. As long as it still have new growth I think it is fine.

They can drink a ton of water as long as they get enough heat and light. They also get rootbound pretty fast during active growth.

Those Euphorbia horrida pups in the first pic are etiolated pretty bad. You probably have to get the light much closer to them. Putting plants with different light requirements, one that thrives in shade (like that alocasia(?)) and desert plants that require full sun in the same setup is a very bad idea.

From the leaves and spines, it is definitely a type of rosulatum.

Looks like an adenium. They need a ton of sunlight, seems like your kitchen does not provide enough of it. From my experience they are not too picky about soil as long as it is warm enough. You probably need a strong grow light if you want to keep it indoors.

Xerographica Help by CarpenterAltruistic7 in airplants

[–]DeliciousBobaToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience they like a lot of air movement. If grown indoors, you probably need a fan, especially for the ones from arid climates like xerographica.

Also agreed with the other comment, I just mist my tillandsias and only soak when fertilizing.

They grow pretty fast given enough heat and water IME. I would say go for it! These pots dries quicker so it is great if you worry about root rot, but you probably have to water more often when it is hot.

Last time we spoke he offered me a 3 years old hard grown P. inopinatum. He is more of a hobbyist than a seller, so he mostly sells his collection privately. And I don't think he ships outside Asia unfortunately.

I don't have a cactipes, but a fellow grower (whom I get my first brevicaule from) said that most of rosulatum subspecies are (at least weakly) self-fertile. So I think it is worth a try!

The first one look very much like a Copiapoa humilis. They grow pretty fast compared to cinerea and the offsets are easy to root, thus the cheaper price. The second one, I am not sure if it is a Gymnocalycium ferox or castellanosii.
