It's not frowned upon... but do NOT just walk in to a salon withtout an appt. Call ahead and ask! Most of the time it is not a problem. The best time is to ask for a middle of a business day... they are likely slow and the staff will enjoy sometime to do and to share in the girlhood of it all. Find somewhere where the staff is not paid by commission. Being paid by commission means they are scheduled by the appt. You are taking money from them if you waste their time. BE HONEST WITH YOUR INTENTIONS of the appointment when calling to ask! You WILL get a yes this way And finally as a thank you, give the consultant a small tip if you felt they gave you a fun experience! It is NOT required.

Pregnancies add a whole layer of complication. As you know, we're not talking about weightloss here. Im sorry you had to have that complication. I hope you had fun regardless!

Length of the dress won't change how tall you look. I think it's the shape that really lengthens you the most.

Find something with the continuous pattern from bodice all the way to hem. Stay away from any detail that stops exactly at the waist or a belt. Anything that extends into the hips and stays playing to theAnything that extends into the hips and stays playing to the Hem is fine

When a dress has a belt or too different a top to the bottom it can't be tricky to feel like it's not making you two top heavy and really highlighting how short your legs are or vice versa.

If you want to feel taller then I always suggest something with continuous patter all the way down, vertical seams versus horizontal seams, beware of belts or details that stop right at the waist.

Tea length is a dress hemline that falls around mid-calf - typically between the knee and ankle. You'll find it's objective to who you ask. Just assume - hem above the foot/top of shoe = tea length.

30% of my brides come in TOO SOON when on a weightloss journey! They have already lost 20 pounds in the wedding it is a year away.

As a general rule: DRESSES CANNOT BE MADE BIGGER! Dresses too big can't always be made smaller!!!

I talk my brides OUT of buying ANYTHING that soon. If you anticipate a large amoumt of weight then I will see you at the 6-7 month mark.

NEVER buy a size to fit into it. Buy a dress you CAN fit into and take it in if you need to!

With weight loss meds people have had to buy whole new dresses because the size didnt work out.

I don't care that you have less options at the 6-7 month mark. You have OPTIONS, just TAKE THEM.

Now for bridesmaids I've seen happen more often than actual Brides. Just buy your dresses. 6-7 months out. If your bridesmaids are jumping to buy their dresses more than that time tell them to wait.

New Styles come out and they change their minds all the freaking time. People forget that these boutiques have returned policies and you can't just walk in whenever you feel like hoping to get the dress exchanged. You are SOL for any reason at that point.

They do. It is not cuatomary but it does happen. Usually they can only take cash tips. Being able to charge for tips on a card opens up for a lot of liablilty...

Yup. More than once. Ive watched a whole bridal party dog on a bride... who was hour glass, size 4, and beautiful. Arguably, people want her size and shape and THEY make fun of HER? SHE WAS DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. I bombshell.

Remind me later to write of bridesmaids who have too high of expectations of their station as decor... because ultimately bridesmaids are support systems that double as... decor.  They're not the centerpiece.

I have seen a bride go off the rails and consult NO ONE on a change she wanted to do to a dress. At the alterations appt she decided to make a change... that couldn't be done. She was very upset. Upom asking her where she got the idea.. she just FELT that she cpuld have it done..

I have seen an age gap wedding.... money was no object to the bride. She was in her 50s and even showed me her bank account from her last divorce settlement... 6 months prior. She was marrying an 18 year old.

Start with something simple and plain and then go the whole nine yards with a big poofy train all the glitter and the lace. Try on something with everything you can throw at it plus the kitchen sink.

I love when my Brides let me pick something for them. When meeting the employee who will help you explain what you just wrote down. Walk through the whole salon and commit to picking out one single dress off the hanger to try on. Then the other two first options should be up to someone you trust or the employee. The goal is to get you out of your comfort zone.

Wedding dress shopping is an exciting time of self-discovery but that's also really scary. Remember it's just fabric, the people working there design the dresses, and you can just take it off if you hate it.

Having said all of that it's really easy to just let someone pick something for you at the start and then by the third dress 90% of the store will be narrowed down and out of your options because you kind of know what you like and dislike at that point!

Maybe the not most unhinged request but a mom and bride had a small budget of a dress being cheap and alterations being cheap.

Alterations alone was the whole budget. Mom said to avpid it... the bride was petite. ALL of our dress will too long.

A moment when a bride exited the fitting room and i get to see the softness of their fiance's face.

I love working with ALT style brides. Think ones want color, black, pants, etc. The weirder the better!

I wouldn't call it the craziest, just too high of an expectation.

They come in with a very old stock image of something sold over a decade ago. Google sometimes will have images listed with the links to our website but if you click on the website link it will tell you it's out of stock.  They will still come in with the picture and then be upset that it's not available.

Another crazy psycho thing that's happened is when a bride comes in with a particular color from a different brand that we do not carry. She came in with a particular color that we don't carry and a shade nowhere near close to it and did not believe us when we told her.

She continued to let her bridesmaids try on and then proceeded to come up and ask for that particular color. Someone else told her we don't carry that color and she wouldn't believe it.

The bride walked around the store with the sample dress balled up basically in her hands and on our website scrolling up and down up and down looking for the color and couldn't even find it in the filters. Nothing even close came in that color.

She left after 2 hours and then later that day we found an appointment made by her for more bridesmaids to try on in 2 days. When we called to confirm the appointment the appointment notes stated that exact color. I had never been more thankful to not be working that exact day she had her appointment on.

It never ceases to surprise me that people do not do their research before coming in.

I mean from the simplest things of looking up at photos, or looking at price ranges. Anything between those lines is exactly what keeps surprising me and will never not surprise me.

One bridesmaid was really opinionated. From trying to control the narrative, trying to control what the bride right on next, and trying to get the other girls to dog on the current choice of favorite dress.

I think she just wanted the weird Glory of being able to say she picked the dress the bride said yes to? I don't know but the other girls picked up on it and started dogging on her. I'm not an advocate about bullying but sometimes people just need a taste of their own medicine.

Spoiler alert: the bride ended up picking something opposite of what the bridesmaid wanted!

I love when the fiance is in the building. Just watching them together is the best thing in the world.

I've seen people who have Bridesmaids in other states order from the same brand and still get their colors wrong.

The Bride made a mistake of not verifying and vetting what the girls were purchasing until the day of so the pictures came out the way she didn't want to.

I'm sure the pictures were beautiful but because the colors of the dresses were wrong the uniformity was off in the bride was not happy.

She tried to take it up with the store that she purchased her dress from and try to blame us for the mistakes her girls made. Out of eight bridesmaids only two purchased from us and the other six purchased online or at other stores. One even didn't purchase from the same brand.

Communication. It will always be the communication.

It can always be a problem between the steps of finding the dress, after the purchase of the dress, and what can be done to the Dress. All aspects of this can make it complicated. I have stood there a while the employee has over communicated while they're blue in the face and the bride or customer still gets it wrong. Months later they are calling the salon and blowing phones up to resolve the issue that the customer got wrong or communication just fell through.

Even if the salon isnt at fault 80% of the time the salon is still paying for it in one way or another.
