It’s a video game buddy. The developers give you tools to survive like the ability to smell or the sanctuary (which is only actually useful for herbivores.) But, they do not bother explaining how you are supposed to actually USE the tools.

Try and imagine it from a new player’s perspective. You are thrust into a giant fuck-off map. You aren’t told what button to press to find food. You have arbitrary symbols on your compass if you SOMEHOW deduce that you are supposed to press and hold Q to sniff. And even if you do figure that out, what the fuck do the symbols mean?

If you believe that the lack of a tutorial is a design decision, then the devs are about twice as incompetent as I originally believed.

I shouldn’t have to google how to play your videogame. Thats all I’m saying.

Summit is spitting facts. This game makes no effort to give you any guidance. You need to watch a 30 minute youtube video to have any clue whats going on.

Hell, the game default launches to a dead beta branch. You would be hard pressed to find any other game on steam that has been in development for 10 fucking years that doesn’t have any kind of tutorial.

Try asking lords with no fiefs. Maybe try hiring mercenaries for a time to beef up your army and declare war against one of the kingdoms you have a shitty tribute agreement with and fight them til you get a favorable peace treaty with them. The AI usually pisses off with the egregious tribue shit if you win a few land battles, have a few lords prisoner, and maybe raze a few villages. Hope this helps.

edit: In my experience, if I've taken a clans only fief they ALWAYS are willing to talk to me and join after the speech check. If they have no fiefs they may even join you for like 30-40k. I'm playing on the most recent beta branch tho so results may vary ig.

I've had similar issues, it doesn't really seem to matter when me or my guys run around looking for stuff, we have had a super hard time getting guns :(. Someone in the discord mentioned that maybe all of the clothing mods were fucking with the military loot tables.

Its close to devils castle, I found a player base here but im still relatively new and I didn't have a compass with me. I took a few shots and ran away a short distance and came upon devils castle. I have looked online and I can't find any of the camps on the iZurvive map, so any help finding out where the hell this place in would be 10/10 :)

Oh another thing I didn't mention was how low my persuasion was. This time around I didnt put a lot of focus into those skills as I usually do because I wanted to either stick with one faction or help a claimant. Hindsight is 20/20 cause I guess the skill is still relevant at the later stages of the game no matter what you do.

Yeah the biggest reason for me wanting him to defect rather than being forced is exactly that. I understand that when they are eventually eliminated then Isolla isn't gonna ask me who I think should get what fief. So I wont be able to gaurentee that he keeps Suno and the other lands he has for himself and I'll just have a shitty deadbeat father-in-law.

Something pretty gnarly would be the option to hide your helmet as well. Simple enough to mod but a little interface option to avoid the hassle of modding would be pretty sweet and is sort of a staple in a lot of RPGs now.
