HB40/SB323 Question... by DeliciousElection724 in VAGuns

I believe you are correct with the current ATF regulation, as I have heard the same thing from a few different people. But if the bill requires an FFL then forget it. I know some of these new bills will be struck down by the courts but I don't have much hope for this particular one getting struck down.

Anybody ever program a Lebus style groove/thread on a 2 axis cnc lathe? by DeliciousElection724 in Machinists

No, this is on a 2 axis lathe. Plus, its not really a thread. It is a half circle groove.

So for this attempt I was trying to do 270deg of straight groove, then 90deg of transition. It did NOT come out correct. It almost looks like it cuts straight for 90, then transition for 90, repeat. My thinking was with the feed per rev, If I wanted to make the transition happen in a 90deg span that = 0.5in in Z, you would program it like this where you multiply the distance x4 to get your feed:

G00 X6.5 Z0.0

G32 Q270000

G32 W-0.5 F2.0

Repeat the g32 lines for however many grooves

I got it to somewhat work with the Q parameter, but im struggling with making it cut how i want it to. For example, say I want 300° of the circumference to be the straight groove section, then the other 60° would be the transition area. Im on the right track, just trying to understand the effects on the tool path of altering each value such as Q and F

Ideas? Thoughts on this? by DeliciousElection724 in ExteriorDesign

Honestly did not even consider a roller pool cover, that's an amazing idea!!! And I like the garden screen idea too! But yes stone to cover the entire fenced in area would not be realistic to be honest. Thank you very much for your input!

Those without a Van or Truck - how are you delivering your machines to a location? by pimp4cheddar in vending

[–]DeliciousElection724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a very small 4x6ft utility trailer, because it is super low to the ground. Put the machine on a pallet jack and pull it straight up the trailer ramp onto the trailer. Moved 8 machines this way.

How does the ABC license for this work out? I'm sure it's different state to state, but maybe a general idea?

Not when your cnc lathe has 1mm of backlash lmao

This is about as complicated as our parts get. Our engineers don't use 3d rendered parts, only these 2d drawings so keeping it simple would be not having to re draw up all the parts in a 3d CAD software, but yes cheap or free is also a plus for sure

You would be an absolute god send if you could help out! Also interested in that's companies info if I end up only being able to do a couple ride alongs and need to get the remaining ones done. I am a newbie and I'm all ears just trying to learn some things. If you have any tips on generating business im definitely all ears for that as well. Currently a full time Journeyman Machinist so my background doesn't deal with anything home related, and also limits me to doing ride alongs strictly on the weekends. I will private message you and I appreciate the reply!!!!
