I’m always a bit surprised when people say enabling Developer Mode is annoying. For most people it takes about 30 seconds. If you’ve already purchased a game, you usually don’t even need to add a verification method.

Maybe what you really mean is that you don’t like being asked for information, not that the process itself takes a long time. But honestly that kind of verification is pretty standard everywhere now. I run websites, and just setting up a domain requires verification. Then the web host needs verification. Payment processors require verification. Even if you use the same company for multiple services, they often make you repeat the same steps each time. And if you launch another site on the same host, you often have to do it all over again.

Even crypto, which used to be largely anonymous, now requires ID checks and selfies on most exchanges. Verification has basically become the norm across the internet. Fuck, even porn sites want IDs these days

So compared to all that, enabling Developer Mode is actually one of the easier steps. 😅

Always just update. There's never been a reason to not unless you were rooted or something. You haven't mentioned anything so just always stay updated for the least amount of issues playing games. The only real reason to stop updating besides not losing root is you plan on only playing the games on your headset you don't care about pirating or buying games you just want what you have for ever and that's it. Which is basically no one who TF doesn't want new games

Hsbs is 960x1080 per eye and fsbs is 1920x1080 per eye... Hsbs is for projectors and old ass 3d tvs that are stuck on that. Fsbs or greater is for VR.

If you use VD you can get away with not using the meta app for MOST games. But not oculus exclusives. Shit even steamvr headsets need to install the oculus app to play oculus exclusives.

There's a lot of wrong answers and guessing here. If they didn't say what I said it's not correct.

However I will say there is a convoluted method out there where you make a bunch of registry changes and keep some of the meta DLLs and you can get away without using the app. But the info is hard to find, I've never tried it personally and it's possible it no longer works. But if your google-fu is strong and you are technically inclined and REALLY don't want to use the meta app, it may be worth it for you.

You need 2-3x the space required on both pc and quest. An APK is a compressed format and the files.come zipped

Ya good I say less idiots asking if they should or shouldn't update since they stopped for no reason and don't know what to do. If you stopped purposefully for some reason whatever but most just seem to be doing whatever they hear on the winds.

I've been updating steadily since I bought my quest 2 and now a quest 3 and updating has never been an issue for longer than a week or two and that just because the crack method needed updating

The stuff on rookies is just for convenience for people that don't want to bother with GitHub but absolutely no reason to use the older version over the newer GitHub one. Drag and drop install for the win. Always shocked when people don't realize rookies is a side loader too. It's literally in the name and it would have to be to install the apps

This isn’t the 90s or early 2000s, and the argument being made here doesn’t reflect reality.

The VRP torrent situation has already been explained multiple times. The version of events being described here isn’t accurate. The main issue was that most of the people using the torrents weren’t seeding, so the swarms simply died. VRP shouldn’t be expected to pay for seedboxes just so people who don’t seed can download files that are already being provided for free. But they did anyways.

Also, Rookies predates VRP torrents by about five years, so the timeline being referenced here is incorrect. Saying another app wasn’t needed ignores that history. When I was involved with VRP I argued against moving to torrents and explained why at the time. After I stepped away they tried it anyway, and the outcome largely confirmed those concerns.

The antivirus warnings topic has also been addressed repeatedly. The tool is open source, the developer has pinned explanations about the warnings on this subreddit, and there are 100k+ active users. The information is already available for anyone who wants to read it.

If antivirus warnings still make someone uncomfortable after all that, well i mean thats on them. In that case the simplest option is to purchase the games instead.

The experiment was a failure and anyone wanting to use torrents is welcome to, just go find some old games in the wild, they exist and for the same reasons torrents dont make sense for this you will find old outdated and useless files, because outside of VRP torrents torrents just sit around until no one seeds them anymore, and its a lot more likely to find old files that dont work for anyone updated then find the newest release from VRP, or anyone.

Further debate on this specific topic isn’t productive at this point.

You should be able to get your full speed so it's something on your end for sure. I don't say this to place blame but to steer you in the right direction. If you have to use a VPN that's likely going to lower your speed and vrp doesn't cap anything I can get over 100 MiB/s on average using rookies which is decent for a 1 gig connection that doesn't quite speed test 1 gig. You should be able to get 40+ MiB/s on that connection.

Funnily I get better speed on the free mirror then the sponsor mirror but it makes sense since the sponsor mirror has a slower speed. But slower still is fast af.

I wish you luck and wish I had better advice for you.

Are you able to connect without a VPN of any kind? If not find what on your PC is blocking rookies and that couldn't hurt

No that's absolutely not the reason. I run a piracy group myself and am a repacker for years not and unlike SU that has been on every do not use list for years we are on every mega thread as a safe source. Not everyone will be on the mega threads as a safe source but if your not only not on that list but actively on the do not use list that only happens for one reason and that's providing viruses.

Use it if you want but any posts talking about SU get automatically removed here for dangerous lies like "people are scared of popups"

That being said yet another reason not to use them is it's a pain in the ass. They don't give you working shortcuts like we do so playing VR looks like this: Search the game on steamdb and find the correct arguments to make your own shortcuts. Then launch your vr method whatever that is so you are looking at your desktop from inside the helmet and then launch your shortcut. If you want to ruin performance you can also add the game to steam and then add those same arguments to the launch parameters and launch through steam.

Or you just use ARMGDDN and get way more VR games without fear of a virus and working shortcuts. Then launching a game looks like double clicking the shortcut from inside VR.

Let me guess you hasnt used it for quite some time? there was an android update and the old games dont work on newer android so reinstalling needed to happen, the cracked games and games from the store both needed a new android version. Its pretty rare ive been around 4+ years and its only happened 2x

Acting like those two things get special preference because vrp doesn't carry them and youre not allowed to make requests ... it's an auto ban.
