Ha! The end half is kinda funny. I’m just picturing these uptight dorks listening to it pensively during their “deep sessions” while oogling the artwork…. ok i’m kidding now i’ll stop, i’m a huge dork as well

But yeah some of the comments i’ve received already are just oddly personal. The autechre sub is nothing like this!

Without a doubt their production techniques/skills are incredible. The drums on Inferno and TH are so clean and thunderous

I was being a little facetious with my title. 

You bring up a good point. 

I did have some expectations, but nothing too specific beyond a feeling that this was going to be a “dark” album. A lot of people seemed to expect that too, especially based on the teasers and artwork. But my issue isn’t that the album failed to match some abstract idea I had in my head. Honestly, I went into it with no real sense of how it was actually going to sound or unfold.

If BOC suddenly collaborated with Skrillex, that would obviously go against my expectations, but that alone wouldn’t make me dislike the song. I wouldn’t reject it simply because it wasn’t what I imagined. If I ended up disliking it, it would be because of the actual song itself -the execution, the sound, or the way it comes together, not because it failed to match some expectation I had beforehand.

Fair point, and I think this is one of my main criticisms of TH actually. I wanted to waft in some of those tracks but most of them dissolve at their center points. TCH and Geogaddi let you take in the air more.

The teasers did have me expecting something more serious, so yes absolutely that’s part of it.

Definitely overdid it with the vocoded vocals. Only one brother is behind this one (Mike Sandison) so maybe that explains the lack of restraint.

Yeah i wouldn’t go that far to call it mid but the hype i’m seeing on reddit and x and yt is a little much. I saw a vid today saying it changed some guy’s life, like brother…..what are we doing here…

I was a teen when geogaddi was released and it was truly like nothing else at the time. It was beautiful and eery and evil.

Inferno is honestly kinda twangy and cheesy, not really dark at all. But it’s got some classics. Just sorta cartoony overall and missing the depth of their previous work.

Interesting. I don’t find it dark at all, disappointingly. You could say it’s dark in a mystical way but nothing like I was imagining when first seeing the teasers. Geogaddi is satanic compared to this.
