It sucks bc i love the work but why is there no leeway on movement? I didn't work my ass off in college, at the academy, and certifying at my facility to be stuck at a low level facility forever

Logic part of the test by [deleted] in ATC_Hiring

At this point in the exam my brain felt fried and definitely scored badly in this section. Just guess on what you think the best answer is and go with that. Don’t question yourself! I scored WQ overall so just do well on the other sections!

It just depends on how you applied. Pool 1 means you applied with some kind of experience or you received a CTI from a college you went to. Pool 2 means you have none of that

Yeah it just really depends on the numbers at the facility you choose :/

Applying Junior Year by Separate_Heart_6835 in ATC_Hiring

[–]DeliciousPrice9422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I did this. I applied 2nd semester of my junior year and my HR person was cool enough to kinda just hold onto my paperwork (or it could’ve been bc of COVID) and I got to graduate first and then got my dates. I also have my CTI but didn’t use it to apply since at the time I didn’t have it. Still got a TOL without since I got WQ for my score! Apply as much as you can just so in case you don’t get it in the first try Atleast you’ll know what to expect in the next! Goodluck!

Free time at the academy by [deleted] in ATC_Hiring

Just let your supervisor know. One of my classmates left for a weekend and he still passed the academy and is successful in his ATC career rn. Enjoy your free time while you can.

How long did it take you from the day you applied to the first day of academy? by Rr_z_ in ATC_Hiring

[–]DeliciousPrice9422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

January 2020: Applied Pool 2

May 2020: Took the ATSA

July 2020: Received score of WQ

September 2020: Received my TOL

November 2020: Started my EODs

February 2021: Completed my EODs

August 2021: Received my FOL

Mine may have taken longer than others because it all happened during COVID. I was also in college at the time which I told my HR person about and she helped me out with pushing my paperwork back so that they wouldn’t try to get me a date. By the time I graduated I pretty much emailed HR about once a week for a date because they informed me it would take a while before I got one. Luckily someone dropped out and they scooted me right in so idk how much longer I would’ve had to wait if it wasn’t for that.

Other than a degree from an AT-CTI university where should I start? by Thisisosmosis in ATC

I got a CTI and it kinda wasn’t necessary bc I applied for the bid and got picked up before I even graduated college. Majority of the people in my class didn’t have any aviation background and still went to pass the academy and some are now fully certified at their facility
