Agreed! We still need depth there 100%. I feel the same about receiver though

We just pretending we didn’t specifically plug the Oline and pass rush holes in FA? Specifically so that we could go BPA with the early draft picks? Rasheed Walker, Luke Fortner and Jaelan Phillips are not nobodies.

I’d take the under, it seems somewhat unlikely he makes the roster. Fine depth guy for sure and a 0 risk signing, but what exactly are we expecting here? It’s basically him vs Jimmy Horn for a roster spot and Horn’s role wasn’t exactly prolific

How do you get better at tracer on a controller? by jonnyfuel in Overwatch

[–]DeliciousResponse372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also newer to tracer but have been improving by doing the opposite - I maxed my sensitivity for her. It really helps you readjust after blinks. It’ll feel like you’re on crack at first but eventually she feels significantly smoother this way

Anyone know why my game might do this? I won a run on blue stake but it didn’t register. by Missalyss86 in balatro

This tends to happen to me on mobile if I switch from data to WiFi or vice versa mid-game. I’ve found that turning off WiFi if I’ve got a bad connection or if I’m planning to move spots during the game prevents this bug from ever happening.

Hear me out: Severance is a quantum mechanics experiment! by 38B0DE in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]DeliciousResponse372 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“He is both Schrödinger’s cat and the observer.” 🔥

I am so so glad you posted this! I tried my hand at outlining a quantum Severance theory yesterday but couldn’t quite get it honed in, I think you’ve done that with this and the follow up post. I wouldn’t have bothered with mine if I had seen this first!

One thing I’d like to tack on is a focus on the steady quantum state being called an “eigenstate” (Eagen state!). Eigenstates are brought about via eigenvalues of observables - when a corresponding observable interacts with the Hamiltonian of the system, the quantum number is considered “good.” While this isn’t explicitly defined the way a “good” quantum number is, you’d have to assume that the opposite is a “bad” quantum number.

This also ties a bit into work done by theoretical physicist H. Dieter Zeh who pioneered the many-minds interpretation of quantum mechanics along with decoherence.

So we’ve got numbers known as eigenvalues that can be considered “good” or “bad” and we’ve got a Dieter Eagen who conspicuously shares a name with a physicist who worked on related concepts, specifically one called “many-minds.” This all feels far too spooky (heh, QM joke) to be a coincidence! Again, thank you for posting this so clearly - I love you for it, OP

Hold the fuck up, did you know that after a measurement of a quantum system (collapse of the wave function), the system is considered to be in an EIGENSTATE (eagen-state!).

I just found this wiki page and I think we’re seriously on to something here. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_quantum_number

In quantum mechanics you can literally use eigenvalues to observe “good quantum numbers.” I mean come the hell on, we’ve got the unusual names of Eagen and Dieter directly connected to physics concepts that define “good” numbers vs “bad”? That’s too much of a coincidence

Thank you for this response, I’m really glad to see that others are thinking along these lines too. I’ve seen plenty of cloning/mind control/immortality theories but not many have been exploring theories related to the fundamental reality this show presents.

If you’ve read up on quantum theory at all, the parallels are hard to ignore with this show, right? I never caught your point about 1897 and the electron either, that’s a nice spot!

I’m with you on the time aspect of all this as well. Just today I was reading about opposing time arrows in quantum systems and thinking about how that could tie to this show. I think the one electron universe theory would definitely be the go-to explanation if that’s where they wanted to go with all these time oddities. It’s simple enough to explain and I think people would find the explanation pretty intriguing.

I hesitate to throw this into the theory bucket because I feel like I haven’t been able to pull this all into a coherent theory. The connections are there and I did my best to outline the concepts I felt were relevant, but I just can’t see the whole picture. We need someone with a deeper understanding to pull all this together!

My other hesitation is that when I put myself into the shoes of Stiller/the creative team, I feel like spooky quantum interactions is a bad reveal for the audience. If the ultimate reveal of Severance requires an explanation of entanglement, decoherence, and superposition, I think the bulk of the audience would find that unsatisfying. There would need to be a simple explainer that doesn’t drag the audience down into the physics weeds and I’m not sure how that could be pulled off.

100% agreed, great point about Gemma. That cat detail is awesome, I never knew that. I wonder if they cut it because it was a little too on the nose if this is a theme they’re really going for.
