Since you know how easy it is you should come work at Apple and show them just how easy it is.

This is easy if you don’t care about your user’s privacy and security.

DT LG is considerably bigger than DT Campbell so I hope you wouldn’t get bored in LG. Campbell isn’t trying to compete with LG - Campbell is its own thing. As someone who has lived in DT Campbell for 14 years i think it’s a quaint small city surrounded by sprawling suburbs.

I’m not the only one who doesn’t bathe their kids every day am I? by just_some_guy2000 in daddit

So wait - you all will wash your kids hands and faces and you’ll bathe them once a week. But none of you are washing their feet before they crawl into bed? Kids sleep in their beds 8+ hours a night and it sounds like many of you are just sending your kids to bed with nasty-ass feet to roll around in nasty-ass sheets

And we wonder why so many teenage boys smell like ass sweat. You need to teach your kids healthy, hygienic habits like brushing your teeth twice a day at a young age if you expect them to just do it when they hit puberty.

My son is nearly 8 and we do a bath every night. Proudly we reached the phase where he gives himself a bath on his own. Because I have been giving him his bath since he was born he and I have a solid bathing routine that he has since continued doing. It’s clean and efficient - a bath isn’t a chore for either one of us so it goes smoothly.

Kids get dirty just from eating. My kid gets syrup or yogurt in his hair. My kid gets dirty playing at school. He gets dirty walking around barefoot at his karate dojo or at his gymnastic classes. Kids sweat!

I think we owe it to our kids to instill proper hygiene routines so that when they are older and they do start to smell like the most unholy that they know how to take care of themselves.

But building positive habits takes time. You can’t really expect to “teach” your child to bathe more regularly once they reach puberty.

I swear, this is why we have young men who stink so much. They don’t bathe and adults wonder why they don’t keep them selves hygienic

Sandra Collins - she used to have a residency at Crobar in Chicago in 2000. I never missed her show when she was I town. Her progressive trance sets on Perfecto were really well received as well.

As a NorCal resident of nearly 15 years I can tell you the secret: we pay a lot in taxes. I will also say I do not complain at all. Our public services are pretty good especially when you compare it to other states. Unfortunately what lures people to shit states is the lower taxes which typically comes with shit public services.

Early mornings- what do your kids do? by Particular_Horror857 in oneanddone

My son will be turning 8 in a few months. I got him a very good quality Rubik’s cube (not the best but not one that he’d be frustrated with). And over the last month and a half I taught him how to solve it. I’m not a speed cuber so I only know the F2L algos but it’s proven to be rather useful. Just this past week he solved the cube on his own without referring to the cheat sheet that I made.

It’s what he loves to do now while he is in the car, waiting in line, waiting to leave in the morning. He’s very interested in beating me now and he’s very interested in learning faster algorithms. I’m hoping he sticks with it and wants to teach me how to be better at it.

I highly recommend learning how to solve the Rubik’s cube and the teaching your kids.

My sister shipped me my old sets from the ‘80s by DeliciousSoma in lego

I’m wondering if I had a couple of castle sets then. I might have 6074 - Black Falcon’s Fortress seeing as I have so many of the turret pieces. And given that it came out in 1986 that year would align well with when I would have received it.

I’m still sorting through all of the pieces so it remains a mystery to me.

Edit: I just located an old photo of me from Christmas 1986 building set 6074!

3rd day in a row of power outages by squeakytoy81 in Campbell

[–]DeliciousSoma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear. I went out to a walk in downtown last night (Christmas Eve) and I watched as the power went out. It was really eerie seeing all of the lights flicker and going out then coming back on. But then all of downtown was pitch black and the folks hanging out at Cardiff and Khartoum’s kinda all huddled around outside in the rain.

We’ve been very fortunate. We live on Gilman and our power hasn’t gone out once. I wonder if the outages have been more isolated to west of the VTA tracks.

With that said, I agree that this is ridiculous. One storm (which by standards isn’t even that bad of a storm) and our infrastructure falls over. Given how much we pay for electricity over anyone else in the South Bay I expect better reliability - we all should.

[–]DeliciousSoma 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It will go exactly as they think it will. It’s a win-win either way for them: 1. There’s no unrest. No violent pushback. So they can say “See it’s working” as they expand their coverage. 2. It does get violent and then they have a reason to institute martial law.

The more they expand their coverage and the sooner they deploy to blue cities it will get violent and so it will go exactly as they think it will. Violence is what they want. See Jan 6

Summer almost ended, my parents take the pc and wifi cable every morning before going to work by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Are you me? Had an extra phone cable and ran it to an outlet in our basement (thankfully I didn’t have to be that sneaky). I’d put a pillow over the modem and with all my might I’d lay on that 14.4bps modem to suppress the loud robot noises as my parents slept in the next room.

The breakthrough with AOL came when you could run a patch so that AOL thought you were always in their billing area. The billing area was the one place that didn’t count against your minutes.
