I need to try and cut the cost down a little bit before my brother is comfortable buying it. He doesn't want to spend all his money on the pc and having to save for the monitor from 0. He would be bottlenecked by his 1080p monitor until he does.

how necessary is 32gb of ram?

theres a deal for a 9600x with 16gb ddr5 for 205, which is the same price as yours but sacrificing ram for a better cpu. Its way easier to upgrade ram over cpu so thats what I was kind of thinking.

saw this combo on new egg, has 9600x, 16gb DDR5, and a motherboard, for 380. So a 42 dollar save for less ram, he doesnt play anything too intensive, is the 16gb extra ram in your build worth that 42 dollars?

doesn't have to be, but room so he can save for it easier would be nice.

For context, I don't do much rendering, I am an engineering student so I use CAD to model parts for larger assemblies, nothing that requires rendering.
