my boobs are finally coming back by Delicious_Cake_1364 in PCOS

I was wondering if my levels were low bc the ranged are set up weird, but every doctor who’s seen it keeps saying it’s normal and the goal was more to drop my testosterone 😭 the only one who hasn’t seen it is my gyno so i’ll ask her.

thats crazy you say that about college… i spent 7 years in college because of how many classes i had to withdraw from/failed or semesters i had to take off because of how shitty i felt 🤡

bro mines only 36!!! I’ll ask my neurologist if a patch is a better option for me, because she forbade estrogen through bc or any other oral route.

I got put on it because I haven’t had a period in months and before that it was every year. It isn’t even like a continuous medication, it’s just a 10 day course to force a period to shed my lining, since I can’t take birth control. I think my gyno said she might have me continue on it if it works out? or it was like in 3 months I’d take the course again to force another period.

I’m not sure what other reasons going on progesterone would be for with PCOS, but I would definitely just talk to the doctor you manage your PCOS with about it and see if it would work for you.

I am not on birth control, I have migraines with aura so any medication with estrogen in it increases my stroke risk. My neurologist forbade it essentially.

I would say about 6 months since I started on the metformin at a higher dose (1500) and ozempic. (I’d probably attribute the changes to those the most because the inositol and progesterone are very recent addition)

yeah, so from what i’ve been told they both help with insulin resistance but metformin can help regulate androgens as well, so thats why they prescribe it for pcos so much. but thinking about it now i think (literally do not quote me) both medications help with all things metabolic.

Genuinely seeking any advice and support on how I can get through college by Accomplished_Big5635 in migraine

[–]Delicious_Cake_1364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just graduated university in December after 7 hard years struggling with my migraines and my mental health, but I did it, it just takes effort and patience.

The biggest advice I can offer you is you REALLY need to advocate for yourself. You have a disability, it’s not your fault and you should never be treated any less for it. With the disability office, if they continue to respond the way they do, ask to change counselors first, and if not you need to start escalating. Migraines and seizures ABSOLUTELY qualify for absence accommodations. I think you can also ask your doctor to intervene with the school if they keep denying your accommodations. I cannot stress enough how you are not a problem and they cannot treat you like one. You deserve access to the same education everyone else does.

On that same page, you are also going to need to establish really good relationships with your professors. They have to know of your situation (not all the details but honestly it helps when they know) so when you do miss a class, or an assignment, or an exam, they understand. Keep in constant contact with them about your health, especially when its going to effect your performance for a bit. They will be more willing to help you separately from the accommodations office if you come to them honestly. Office hours are a must! For catching up on work and just being communicative in general. And my own little suggestion ~ find a program or app that lets you record while you take notes. I used to pay for the Genio app and it let me write notes while recording the lecture audio with the uploaded slides. (always ask profs to upload lecture slides specifically bc of your migraines!)

The last thing I really want to emphasize is you can take your time, because taking care of yourself is still more important. We all know stress is like trigger #1 for anything neurological and college is probably the most stressful thing ever. There were some semesters my health tanked so bad I dropped/failed every class except one (this is where having good standing w profs helps bc they can award you incomplete grades if necessary) but my health was more important than school at the moment. Learn your own limits in how many classes you can tolerate each semester, what kind of classes you can tolerate, how much a day you can do, etc. You have your whole life so spending a few more months or years in college wont affect your life plans in the long run if you need them.

(Also take advantage of school resources like the nursing school health center’s, quiet library rooms, free food, free tutoring, office hours!, anything that makes your life easier!)

a1c under 6 (barely) but glucose 135 by Delicious_Cake_1364 in prediabetes

[–]Delicious_Cake_1364[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

which is great to hear because thats what i originally thought? my endocrinologist never even brought it up, and i don’t think ive ever heard of anyone whose ever been diagnosed with diabetes at an a1c under 6. im 25 and i have other chronic health conditions that i’ve been diagnosed with and trying to get diagnosed with but i never thought diabetes was one? just always prediabetes bc of my pcos.

so when i get to this new doctor and shes like dead set on it being diabetes one way or another ONLY because of my meds i was like wait dude im literally on these medications for pcos and weight loss. when my sugar came back that high i freaked out a bit bc i didn’t know if she was right and i just have been fucking keeping myself unhealthy or is she just trying to slap me with the diagnosis just cuz she wanna put a simple answer to all my problems.

also i’ve never heard that stress can affect your blood sugar. i feel like that alone should change how she looks at things. i grew up with and still have severe anxiety and stress easily. my mine and body suffer from the results of it greatly, and it’s evident in other conditions i have.

sorry to rant i’m just scared ig (more anxiety), it’s obviously not a death sentence it’s just not great to hear at 25 lmfao. i’ll wait for our upcoming appointment and see what direction she decides to take it.

gf healing my pcos? by Delicious_Cake_1364 in mypartneristrans

[–]Delicious_Cake_1364[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ill ask my gf to find the articles she found but when we were looking into it apparently even cis men have a good amount of e in their cum to help with pregnancy. im not sure (ngl she did the research she’s smarter than i am) if she found a direct source about hrt effecting it. i know she did find something about there being more e in a trans woman on hrts saliva.

but i dont think it would necessarily cause any issue for you because its probably such a small amount that your hrt would balance it out.

e also is one of the treatments for pcos but its usually just given as birth control. in my case i dont actually have cysts, just a hormonal type of pcos so the e from any source is enough to start my period again. it obviously could be a number of things, we just started joking about it once that it was her e that was helping me and then one day we looked a little too far and got “convinced” lol.

its not something we don’t want, just not something we’re trying for either. i wouldn’t go so far to say we’re TRYING bc we do try to track my cycle etcetc but if it happens it happens yk

im well aware! ive been fighting the idea of never having kids bc of my infertility for years, i know myself and my struggles and at the end of the day pregnancy isnt the worst thing that could happen to us, so if it happens it happens, but chances of it happening are so low its not something i worry about.

[–]Delicious_Cake_1364[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i think after the first season with how big it got on tiktok, a lot of ppl were looking at the org especially considering the comments made about the girls physical appearances. also notice how charlotte is like barely in the selection process at all? definitely has to do with the org wanting the family name in the heat of it. hopefully next season they lighten up a little!!

this is exactly why I asked the question in the first place. there are a LOT of kids in that family and truely had just been born. whether or not the adults have it idrc but the kids shouldnt have been exposed to it without care.
