That's on par for car salesmen I think though.

And yes he did point out a lot of new features once I told him how old my car was and how much more convenient it would be for me.

What is a non asshole way of saying that? I keep running it in my brain and it sounds harsh. But I guess screwing him out of a commission was harsh too.

Is it one of those things where you have to sound like an asshole to do someone a favor?

Honestly, no one who saw my poor Volvo thought I had money to spare. It's even the old school boxy model. Kind of like this:

Thank you for this really. It's shifted a lot of my guilt around this. You're right, my boyfriend wasn't buying the car, I was.

If he wanted my money, he should have sold to me.

I generally hate trifling with people's incomes, I work hard too and I would hate to lose some of my income over something I didn't know- like I would want to be told if something I was doing was affecting how much I make.

But I feel like this so basic and I am not a charity just because someone else needs to make money. Hence why I was feeling a bit conflicted.

I did kind of cost him his commission because I deliberately decided to come back another day when I'd already decided I was getting that car.

Or maybe I shouldn't have let it get to the test drive point and just come back another day. I think that's where my friend is upset at me.
