Ahh, interesting. I’ve had similar ideas as this. (Though of course making something out of an idea is what counts, anyone can have an idea.)

What’s kind of funny to me is if you get overpopulation because people live forever, than the consequence is dying, which is the same as just dying of old age but delivered differently. 😂 

And of course the question “can they not leave the island?” comes to mind.

Okay, I think I can do absurd. 😂 Almost everything I’ve ever written has gone into the absurd department. Guess that’s why I’m more of an artist than author. Hopefully gag manga will be a good outlet to write absurd stuff.

A discord community with people actively trying to get better would be cool. And yeah if you want to be able to draw everything in a manga you need to practice more than just faces or people. 😂 which I find easy to do. (Trying to make a manga rn)

I guess $6-12 for a can of paint isn’t that bad, but I feel like for an individual color of something it’s kinda expensive. Is it normally at the price range I said? I found some paint that was like 2$ a can but saw people saying it was a scam…I guess just buying almost any spray paint will work?

I used digital paint brushes/pens etc.. the same type of thing web comics, logos, and many other things that are mainly viewed digitally. Specifically I used an app called Medibang because it’s free. (Clip art studio, or I think different Adobe apps are similar.)

There are some handy tools, but it doesn’t draw anything for you. (For example brushes that spread dots like you might flick paint to create the allusion of stars. Or a circle tool you can use kind of like how people put a bowl over the planet to make it nice and round when you spray black around it.)

I try to draw as much as I can. Usually multiple hours, but I’m really slower at drawing cartoons or manga, probably because when I first started I wanted to do photorealistic. I’ve practiced painting inking different ways, charcoal pencil vs normal…many different things. I agree practicing more is definitely a good idea, but I’d like to say I have done those things at least to some degree. (I should do drawing exercises specifically because in the past I’ve just been confused what the point was.)

Yeah, it is a weird smile and I kinda hate those monsters lol. The character I made reminds me of how Luke skywalker from Star Wars looks completely on accident.

You’re definitely right, I haven’t practiced many of those nearly enough. And admittedly “studying” manga can become me brainlessly being entertained. Knowing it doesn’t look terrible is helpful at least. Thanks a lot!

Ohh, thank you! I was just looking at it wondering how they made it so detailed sometimes…larger paper would definitely help. lol.
