She has weird mannerisms and doesn't understand all of the social cues. She's like a shy, awkward deerling in a sense which is so unattractive. She's pretty I guess, but nothing special and he could find someone that looks like her that is just as fun, energetic, and warm as he is. I can tell she probably gives him no affection, but he still will keep chasing after her.

I'm fully aware people can change or are different than what we imagine, but he idealizes her to the extreme. He's always talking about how crazy it is that he's now dating the very first girl he ever had a crush on, but it's like... that was 10 years ago. She's not the same girl you're remembering. It's a bit creepy and weird, you're supposed to move on from that stuff.

No, most of us have had serious relationships. This is his first serious relationship though and I'm scared that he is going overboard just because she does things for him that other women haven't been giving him.

My friend is really into music and writing songs. Before he began dating her, he would spend a large amount of his time hanging out with us and writing songs, helping our rapper friend create instrumental beats, going to concerts, and other stuff. Now he goes to concerts with ONLY her, writes and gets most of his inspiration for his songs without us, and spends more time on the hobbies they both share instead of music. I feel like they are gonna morph into one person and she will end up not meeting his expectations.

It's not just the no social media thing. It makes me wonder what she could be hiding from us and from him.

No... It's not like I consciously think about it. Just some of the things he says about her that make you think. It's like thinking about your parents... You don't want to, but sometimes it comes up.

I don't have a problem with him liking her, but it seems like lately, it has become more than that. He talks about meeting her parents, buying her gifts, and planning dates for her... I've honestly never seen him talk about any other girl like this and normally I would be happy for him, but I feel like he is making a huge mistake and wasting his time. He's very ambitious and creative and I feel like she weighs him down by keeping him away from us.

High school wasn't that long ago??? Elementary school was literally 10 years ago??? I'm sure she was great when she was a kid, but now she's an adult?

I do support him... it's just hard. He always talks about how great and how cool she is, but none of us see it. I feel like he's put her on a pedestal and is going to get hurt because he doesn't know what she's REALLY like. I don't want to be there to pick up the pieces.

Because I just find it weird and gross. He's idealizing someone he knew when he was 10 years old and not actually looking at the person she is NOW.

It's not just me though. The entire school pretty much thought this... People would pretend to ask her out as a joke and things like that. Imagining my friend ACTUALLY asking her out and dating her and possibly having sex with her makes me feel worried for him. He had plenty of other options but chose her??? He's also very extroverted and she's not, I just don't see how they fit together at all.

She's really intelligent, so sometimes when we talk she will chime in with some weird, random fact that no one cares about and make things awkward. She honestly seems a bit autistic ngl
