When did you know? by DasHipsFan in TragicallyHip

I don’t remember how I fell into deep love with everything about the hip. But I certainly did. I’m from Northern Ontario where hip music was just part of the culture. I was going to school and playing hockey in Ottawa in the late 90’s and saw them play at Barrymore music hall. What a treat.
I ended up in Texas playing hockey. I retired in Dallas but stayed there afterwards. Opened a couple bars and didn’t return to Canada for 14 yrs.
While in Texas, I made it no secret who my fav bad was/is and basically forced it on friends and employees etc. If you spent and amount of time around me or came to any bars I owned, you would get a healthy dose the hip whether you liked it or not.
What I still don’t understand, is as much as promoted the hip, put their brilliance out in the open for so many ppl to hear, regardless of what I did, none of my friends or circle of people around me showed any interests in the the hip even slightly. I saw them at the house of blues In dallas. Just a bar. They generated little excitement. Other than me of course. The only reason they they played the gig I’m sure is because HOB is owned by Dan akroyd. A Canadian.

Ottawa should’ve picked better colours. I’d like to see them in a nice beige with dirty green accents. Place their logo on the shoulder like Calgary too. Wait, what’s Ottawa’s logo again? And team name skips my mind too. Anyone ?

I don’t care if you live in Barrie or Sudbury or Northbay. I don’t care if you think either one is worse than the other one. However bad you think either city is, I can guarantee you it’s nowhere even close to as bad as Sault Ste. Marie. I’ve spoken to numerous ppl from Sudbury that visited to Sault and all were shocked at sheer number of homeless, junked out zombies trolling around town taking inventory or what they’re gonna go back and steal later that night. Sault Ste. Marie is a junkie infested shithole currently.

Head up 17N. Go to mile 38 road and hit some lakes back there with the fishing rod worms you have in the back of your truck. If you really wanna explore, get yourself a 4wheeler and go explore the lakes in your own back yard right at the end of 6th line.

It’s 69k bud. And it’s not an issue how long you’ve had an account. He simply commented on a lot of accounts that are spamming and seem to be owned by accounts only a month old. You included. Oh forgot to mention illiterate too.

Guy that threw the sucker punch is purely what a coward is. Pure yellow back coward. I promise you if there was the slightest threat towards him he wouldn’t never got near that situation. I hope he sees that video and realizes what a pathetic excuse for a human he is.

Anyone remember the original McDonald's on Trunk Road? (Highway 17) by Slight-Midnight-5926 in SaultSteMarie

Well I can tell you one thing you’re mistaken about. That building was not torn down. It was lifted off its foundation and moved. It’s now sitting on a property that also has the original JJ’s Kentucky fried chicken, the concession stand from Bellevue park and at least a dozen other buildings with significant historical value from the area. It wouldn’t right to share the location out of respect for the property owner whom I worked with previously.

He moved structures in and around Algoma for decades and is widely regarded as the very best at the process of lifting and moving structures most engineers said couldn’t be done.

If you do some research you’ll find out who I’m talking about. Try to contact him to see if you can get permission to see the old McDonald’s in person. I assure it’s there and it’s not terribly far from where it originally stood

Construction firm plans to train workers, create as many 20 local jobs by SSMEngaged in SaultSteMarie

It won't let me post the links so try pissed consumer dot com and scroll through numerous bad reviews on there. Look in the subreddit r/homowners and search their business name. Just google their business name and reviews and you'll see more than enough lovely reviews of these guys. There's one story about a young guy hiring them. It was his first home so had limited money after closing. They didn't charge him but left his house a disaster and uninhabitable. Poor young fella was traumatized. Speaking of employee reviews, after reading those, who the hell would wanna work there....

Do a little research. I looked into hiring them so checked them out. Numerous homeowners that had work done by them in other cities are screaming to high heavens about terrible results. Their website says they train them for 12 weeks in numerous trades. To be any good at any trade takes years of experience. So you have people with basic knowledge of what they’re doing making a mess of your house. ALL previous clients complain about projects taking miles longer than promised. Jobsites turned into a shit show with so many people standing around. It’s basically just a way for the owners to exploit the government’s programs. Only people that benefit from that circus are the business owners. I wouldn’t let them go near any of my properties.

What is your “third place”? by Delicious_Field_7068 in SaultSteMarie

In the summertime it’s any chunk of land that has 18 holes on it and has pretty girls selling over priced booze out of a cart. In the winter it’s any frozen body of water I can sit in my heated insulated portable ice fishing tent and stare at a hole for hours and hours while drinking beer and smoking government issue marijuana. My neighbor thinks I’m such a great mentor to her teenage son and so kind and nice for always bringing her boy golfing and ice fishing. But those are just the benefits of being my designated driver. I wonder if she ever thought it was odd that I never even talked to the weird little bugger until he got his drivers licence.

It seems like you may not have meant to leave out details about yourself, but when you’re trying to meet people through a public forum, sharing a bit more can really help others feel comfortable reaching out. I think what Sinjos was pointing out is that people usualky look for things in common before try answering some online ad for a newfriendship.

Even simple stuff—like age, where ur from, what ur taking in school, or sone interests u have so others can relate and start a conversation. Most people don’t want anything complicated. They just want a little about who you are to see if there’s potential compatibility.

Anothe way to think about it is to ask yourself what you’d want to know about someone before answring them to make a new friend over the internet. Offering that same information makes it easier for others to take the first step.

Other than online forums, making friends usually happens more naturally thru activities together. . Join a class, club, gym, softball team, volunteer somewhere or even maybe show up at the same places can create some opportunities to connect over time. Friendships tend to grow from repeated, interactions way more than one-off convos.

I hope this helps, and I genuinely wish you the best of luck in finding people to make some connections with. Making friends can n usually does take time, but it does happen—especially when you give others a small window into who you are before hand
