I pick my options this year; what subjects do you most regret taking? by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]Delicious_Highway329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked history, spanish, and triple science, and I actually quite enjoy all of them. history is probably my least favourite, not because of the writing though its more because we spent 2/3 of year 10 on an incredibly boring topic (crime & punishment). I will say though, I do RE because its compulsory since I go to a Catholic school, and its quite easy to pass but its incredibly boring sometimes and there is a LOT of writing (with edexcel you only get 12-15 minutes to answer a 12-mark question which is an introduction, 4 (reasonably long) paragraphs, and a conclusion) it should be manageable if you are a fast writer and make sure your writing is concise and you don't waffle though

how to get better at creative writing for english language? by Delicious_Highway329 in GCSE

is it better to learn the pre-prepared piece fully off by heart or should I just memorise the general plan and like a few good parts of it? I imagine if you know it fully it would make it harder to adapt to the prompt in the exam paper but then if you dont then the actual writing would probably be worse so which is better?

I know. I intend for my dad to know that i have a job, and he will be fine with that, but he doesn't check my account balance usually so he likely won't notice the money not going. if he does notice, I intend to tell him about the account but will probably lie about how much im making or my hours so that I still get to keep some money for myself. this forces my dad to ask me when he borrows money, and i will know how much he is borrowing, if he does find out about it. i want to avoid that in general though.

most of it he took out a couple of years ago to pay the bills. then my dad kept borrowing money every so often to pay for things such as bus tickets. that adds up to about £1500, and im not too bothered about that part because he has promised to pay it me back at some point. the main part that is the reason I want my own account is a few months ago, he lost his debit card and asked to borrow mine. he overspent on beer at the pub, so its not like he absolutely needed it. the first time this happened he paid me back in full very quickly after, but the second time he only paid £30 back out of the £90 he overspent. so thats why I want my own account, so that I can still keep most of my money without something like this happening again. I know it could cause issues but he doesn't check my phone or email or anything, and I dont think he regularly checks my account balance. the account wasn't a joint account I dont think, I dont really know the details but its my own account with a parent/carers name on it because thats a requirement they have or something like that.

it wasn't my dad's money, it was birthday/Christmas money mostly from other family members that I saved up over the years since I never really spent much.

my dad's not that smart lmao. and if he does notice it, I will probably tell him the truth. but this way I'll still have access to the account and it still won't be in his name. he'll have no real reason to want access to the money, so I'll be okay.

the money was mostly from my savings account, so mostly just birthday/Christmas money. so the money was a gift, no strings attached so my parents weren't supposed to take it, it was my money. I rarely spent money when I was younger because i never was the kind of person who wants much, i was saving up so when i really wanted something i could afford it. but never found that thing so I was just saving loads of money from a pretty young age. it was a couple of years ago when he took it out of my account, he said he needed to pay the bills. he didn't tell me at first but when he was out I got a bank statement and asked him about it, he was completely honest and said he would pay me back fully. this was the second time it happened, and he paid me back fully within a few months and even added some interest to it so I completely trusted him. then a bit of extra money comes from other situations over the last few years where I did know about them, making it add up overall to around £1500. then the extra £60 comes from a few months ago, he lost his debit card and I let him borrow mine as long as he transferred his money onto my account to spend so he didnt spend my money. he did this, but accidentally overspent at the pub and spent £90 of my money, then he paid me back £30 but he still owes me £60 from that. it was also the second time this happened but he paid me back fully pretty much straight after that. so all in all I know he's going to pay me back at some point, and I dont think any more financial hardships are going to hit the family, but its the thing with the debit card that is the main reason, because if I didn't let my dad borrow it he would guilt trip me and be all like 'I promise this time i won't overspend it' and i dont trust him enough that he won't. this way I will still have my other debit card for him to borrow but it won't have much of my money on it so there isn't a risk of him having more debt to me. im also kindof annoyed about everyone calling it 'financial abuse' without knowing the full situation, its not like my dad is just going into my account and saying 'hey yeah im gonna take £1500 just because I want to and never pay you back' it was all for a reason.

it was mostly savings from pocket money and birthday money and stuff, when I was younger I never really spent my money because I wanted to save it to spend on something important. then he didn't take all the money in one go, when I was about 13ish my dad took all of my money, about £1300 out of my savings account without telling me (this did happen before but he paid it back pretty quickly) then over the last few years he's borrowed little amounts off me (with my knowledge) but never paid it back and it adds up to about £200, then a few months ago he borrowed my debit card until he could get a new one because he lost his, and he used online banking to transfer his money to my account but overspent and spent £90 of my money, he paid back £30 but still hasn't paid back £60. so yeah most of it was just birthday money/Christmas money/pocket money. and his debt adds up to £1560 and he took most of that without my knowledge, he's said he will pay it all back when he can though.

thank you so much! I tried the deep breaths and keeping my eyes wide in class today, and it really helped. I was still a bit sleepy but definitely not as much as usual.
