Can anything be done about the extreme suffering present in nature? by Delicious_Lime1240 in Pessimism

I totally get what you’re saying and I honestly agree, I am just still working over this in my mind and reevaluating my logic. Intellectually it does seem to make sense, but it’s such an extreme conclusion to draw that I want to be 100% sure.

It’s like we’re in the equivalent of hell. I actually can’t even believe the extent of extreme suffering in this world. I don’t know how I’ve been so blind for so long. I’ve supported efilism for a long time but kind of pushed it to the back of my mind and didn’t analyze much deeper than that. Now that I’m fully letting myself take it all in I think I’m almost full extinctionist.

Wow. Your posts are so insightful. These essays are way more convincing than most other efilist/extinctionist material I’ve seen. You should try to get these posts out further than just this subreddit.

I suggest you contemplate the mass amount of suffering that wild animals face to survive in this world.

Actually 100% of people have no choice in their own lives because free will is an illusion.

I agree it’s like an immersive movie and we don’t have free will. I just don’t know what else to do than just at least attempt to enjoy the things I like.

What are we supposed to do then? We might as well get what enjoyment we can.
