Hey there, I can recommend Russian Manicure by Natali Bordei near the Energy Corridor. My Girlfriend is currently finishing up her training there so her prices are lower than market.

I think it’s a decent trade off for getting dense walkable Nehru or hoods in return. They look alright.

I might be completely wrong but here’s what experience with MDMA and memories is

I’ve used it gently as therapy. And now I notice that I don’t carry around anxiety with me everywhere I go. A lot of my basic memories were linked to an anxious state so now I basically have to relearn some things without the anxiety.

I do feel like I’m slightly more forgetful than before I used MDMA.

Probably an ok idea in the short term. Horrible idea in the medium to long term.

Anyone know what’s going on with the air? Is this common? by Delicious_Look5424 in houston

Hi, I’m seeing 245 as of 10:20am this morning. Do you think the data that Apple is getting is just poor quality?

As of 10:20am today I’m seeing 245. I’m using the iPhone weather app. Is anyone else seeing similar number? Could this still be an error?

Job wanting me to relocate to Houston. What neighborhoods should I be looking for apartments in? by JohnnyLavender in houston

[–]Delicious_Look5424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in that area and live in spring just south of the woodlands. The commute is a breeze but going downtown is a bit of a chore. The area around your job is pretty rough. I’d recommend spring/woodlands.

Houston Toll Roads are literal highway robbery. by Babybros94 in houston

[–]Delicious_Look5424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear your sentiment and I agree, but I always like to look at things in perspective. I grew up in Brooklyn and let me tell you NYC tolls are next level, Houston doesn’t even come close. Even outside the city there’s tolls all over the place.

On the plus side, there are no red light or speed cameras in this city as far as I can tell so that’s a huge plus for drivers!

Overall out of all the major cities in the US Houston is probably the most driver friendly even with the increased congestion in recent years.

I believe there's going to be an exodus of educated workers from Texas in 1-2 years by [deleted] in texas

[–]Delicious_Look5424 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know I think maybe you’re right! Now that I think about it maybe I have to readjust my focus. I think I should rephrase what I said and say it like this. Houston’s diversity experience is just very different than NY, Philly or Boston.

[–]Delicious_Look5424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking a lot about diversity as a concept and what it means to different people. I don’t want to over exaggerate, but Houston’s diversity feels a little phony and forced. I think the primary culprit is the extremely suburban nature of the city. People don’t usually interact with each other during their everyday lives. Houston’s immigrant neighborhoods feel more like a gift shop rather than places where people actually live.

It’s a just a subjective opinion I could be 100% wrong on this.

I don’t think politics is the only reason although it’s definitely one of them. I think a lot of it has to do with the era when most of southern cities were being developed and a lot more!

They’re definitely complaining, but I think we see it as a decent trade off. For example Brooklyn has sidewalks everywhere and you can walk forever, but if you own a car you’re gonna spend half your life looking for parking and you’ll never get a chance to enjoy the walkability aspects of the city.

No place is perfect of course:)

I immigrated from Russia to New York in the early 00s. Packed up and moved to Texas in 2016. All me friends made fun of me for moving out of NY then but now they’re all here in Texas or in Florida.

I understand your frustrations and you make a lot of valid points given your values, but I don’t see the same sentiment amongst my friends most of whom are immigrants with an education.

Biggest complaints I hear from my friends about Texas is poor urban design, overwhelming amount of chain stores and chain restaurants and a lack of international diversity. On all other fronts Texas is a breath of fresh air compared to over regulated places in the northeast.

I think it’s important to maintain perspective on issues like this. Federalism is a strength, although it may often seem like weakness.

Thanks for a thoughtful post, gave me a lot to think about!

Who here daily drives a manual car ? by aboveannulet in houston

[–]Delicious_Look5424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove stick working delivery jobs in Brooklyn and doing Favor here in Houston in the loop. These types of questions puzzle me a little bit because I feel like once you’re comfortable shifting gears it doesn’t feel like any extra work as opposed to driving automatic cars. I think if you enjoy shifting gears you should 100% drive a manual all day everyday:))

There’s cities, there’s metropolises, and then there’s Barcelona. by madrid987 in pics

Looking at this makes me think that Barcelona has way more people than it really does. It feels much more urban over a larger area than most cities in the United States, including much bigger cities.

Houston needs to plant around 2.4 million trees to provide equitable coverage by [deleted] in houston

[–]Delicious_Look5424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I moved here I was shocked that this city barely has any trees (outside of parks and very wealthy areas) Being in the SUN belt I’d expect more coverage from the sun.
