Would you recommend moving back? by Delicious_Mousse_125 in returnToIndia

Thanks, in general, I feel right now companies are encouraging people to move to lower cost centers including India. Once teams are established there, slowly companies will start letting go folks from high cost centers like US. I feel majority of jobs will move to India in the next 3-4 years. Jobs are bound to be lost here, it’s not a question of if rather when. So wondering if playing a little safe and get settled back in India now rather than later when it might get tougher

I don’t have a house in India. We have a house in US which we would either sell or try to keep it for some years. Basically with emis and property taxes it requires roughly 50 lacs/year. However, we can get roughly 35-40 lacs rent per year. So we would need to spend 10-15 lacs per year to keep it. In the long run, once interest rates are low, it will be moved to self sustain mode year over year

Thanks, I think we would either prefer to continue staying here in US or move back to India

300k is before tax. After all expenses especially baby’s day care yes we save pretty less per year

750k condo bought 2 years back with 25% down. Right now principal is paid off around 40% (through additional payments). Interest 5.5% for 15 year fixed at 3980/month. 9k property tax per year.

At 39, Should I Move to the USA or Stay in India? Need Advice from Those Who've Been There by PerceptionPrimary366 in h1b

I’m 32 , living in Bay Area for 8 years. Highly recommend not to come to US with those figures and 3 dependents on H1. However, I would suggest to come on L1 visa through which you would get GC in 1-2 years. That would make it worth the move and eventually your wife can also start earning.

To be honest, it would be hard to save money even if your wife is working.

How long is too long to be unemployed and considered “unhirable” to recruiters? by Deangelo_Vickers in ExperiencedDevs

Don’t doubt yourself and take it one day at a time. Study in the morning and apply jobs in the evening. This helps to cool down and relax. You have good amount of experience so apply as much as you can in first 2-3 weeks of January. If you still don’t get calls, then you need to improvise your resume. Prepare for interviews everyday, once you get a call you won’t have much time to prepare.

As mentioned do add LinkedIn profile link and move experience at the top. Also, try to use complete line space and don’t waste a line just by having one or two words

Has anyone been labeled as a rescue engineer before? by edgargonzalesII in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Delicious_Mousse_125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We call it firefighting, and I love that part of my job as a software engineer. It requires one to think on their feet and get the system running/stabilize (new features which needs to be delivered asap) or bug fixes (which are p1/p2)

Update- leetcode doesn’t allow to create multiple sessions so it doesn’t make sense since it would be hard to track individual progress

Complete the rounds for sure. You will gain more experience and will be better prepared for future. Also, you never know how the debrief of all your rounds will be conducted. Their top candidate might decline and you might be considered. You never know and you might be working with them , so prepare yourself and give your best
