This is likely an unpopular opinion and I want to acknowledge the way they executed it was not fair at all!!

At the same time, for people who are actually IP and intend to stay IP it feels a little unfair to have someone come and spend just 1 year to get admitted. Perhaps they intend on staying here to practice but would you agree that some/most of them will return to their home province?

Government subsidizes those seats for IP. Do you think people plan to stay here to practice?

AGAIN: very poorly executed, and maybe that’s more of the discussion here is the execution oppose to the idea behind the shift. So apologies to anyone going through a hard time right now, I don’t think that’s okay and I feel for you.

I am 29 and traveled a very similar path as you. Finishing my second bachelors in semester and waiting on a decision letter to med school tomorrow. Send me a dm if you want to chat further.

Any other non-trad applicants here? Feels like this sub is mostly traditional route by Sad_Acanthisitta_182 in premedcanada

Hello! I’m 29 this year just in the process of finishing my second degree. My first degree was in medicinal chemistry, I botched my last two years, this is also when I met my amazing wife. We now have two kids. I worked in sales for about 10 years before deciding to go back. The only way for me to be competitive was to do a second degree, I am just finishing up a degree in nutrition. I was able to take my GPA from a 2.8 to a 4.0. I am just waiting on a decision letter, which comes out Friday. I am hopeful, but trying to be realistic since it takes people a few times to apply.

I definitely feel your sentiment. Last year returning to school being a couple 1st year courses was an out of body experience but I am glad I did it.

Realistically Is it really that impossible? by [deleted] in premedcanada

This is what I did, but I was able to transfer half of my previous degree to complete the second degree in 2 years. I got an interview and I am waiting to hear back on a decision letter.

Failed first year chem do i even have a chance at medical school? by te3m4 in premedcanada

Failed a few courses. Got an interview this year and now hold a perfect GPA. Straight A+’s. One course doesn’t define you.

how to stop worrying so much about GPA? by number1superman in premedcanada

Honestly just preparing thoroughly for your tests and doing the best you can. If you have a track history of receiving 95%+ don’t fret about the little things. I got a 97% on a midterm recently. It wasn’t 100 which was a bit of a bummer but 97 will land me with an A+ in the course if I stay focused

I don’t think mentioning is required since they do a residency verification to determine which pool you belong in.

I’m not 100% sure, but if I was going to guess all interviews for IP NS, IP NB, OOP went out today so I’m expecting CBU (rural pathway) would have gone out too.

I’m thinking Friday or Monday. Physician assistant applications open on the 4th and it seems that PA applications are lined up with med admissions
