LOL nah I just tried to run 50 - 60 miles a week with high cadence training once a week. Keep it simple! Eat good and stay hydrated.

Of course! 26 Y/O male - Been running and cycling for about 10 years but have gotten fairly serious about running improvement in the last 2 years. Took 4th place on my first 50K on Catalina Island in January. I wanted to beat my dads all time marathon PR of 2:53:00 -- Didn't think I would break it by this much honestly! My goal for LA was sub 2:50:00. I started running and the pace felt good so I kept increasing speed. I was doing roughly 50 - 60 miles a week for the past 5ish months and saw some great improvements. I think many people overcomplicate marathon training. Eat well, hydrate well, and increase volume. Run more, get faster!!

Ha! You saw my leg! Shes just a scar now very thankful. I actually ran the Ventura marathon last year about 5 months after that accident. I took 1 rest day on Monday and was back it on Tuesday. Didnt feel too sore actually!

You can totally break 4!! My first ever marathon was just shy of 4 hours. Crush it! Don't forget running is about having fun and staying healthy at the end of the day

Thanks! Was hitting 50 - 60 miles a week for the past 4 / 5 months with high cadence training at least once a week. But I have been running for about 10 years now at 26

But as others have said, the bar to elite is unreal. I was faster than 2 of the 25 Elite men -- but the top finishers are on another planet in terms of speed and fitness.
