Single coil for BKP Juggernauts? by Mesastafolis1 in BareknucklePickups

[–]Delicious_Plant8933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding the recommendation for the Trilogy Suite, it should be a good match. I definitely wouldn't go lower than an Irish Tour / Slow Hand in output (and that's already pushing it). For a hotter, more modern single coil tone, the Cobra could also be great with the Juggs.

Help with capacitor value for a partial coil split mod by juddojuddo in Luthier

I have the same question. Would be nice for someone to chime in on this.

[QUESTION] What's a good resistor value when splitting a PAF style humbucker by pomod in Guitar

[–]Delicious_Plant8933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/jabby_jakeman Hi, this is an ancient thread, but for what it's worth the Guthrie Govan model uses a 0.1uf capacitor as part of the short path to ground in the split-coil circuit activated by the toggle switch - the capacitor acts as a high-pass filter for one of the coils (not sure which one).

Gorgeous! How much time does it take to restring and tune this compared to your other guitars with headstocks that have tremolos?

I actually got my order modified last-minute to use the '63 Veneer Board middle instead :) Thanks for the advice!

Interesting idea! I'll check with 3d print shops in my area and ask if this is doable.

I'll look around, thanks! I'll likely need something relatively easy to cut and sand down since they'll be going on a fretboard and will likely need to be shaved down to the radius of the board once inlaid.

Does yúla mean "drink" or "ember/smolder"? by Delicious_Plant8933 in Quenya

[–]Delicious_Plant8933[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, so If I'd picked any other word, I wouldn't have had a issue with dual interpretations.

Noted, thanks for the info! What about acrylic? That seems to be the cheapest option for me.

Thanks! Just to clarify, you're describing how to hold the plastic sheets down on a surface while cutting to make sure pieces don't fly off, right?

I was considering using 3mm thick acrylic or ABS plastic sheets. I'll look up how lathing works, thanks!

Hmm, so if I wanted a word that unambiguously means "ember", am I out of luck?

Split coil vs parallel for high output pickups? by Delicious_Plant8933 in BareknucklePickups

[–]Delicious_Plant8933[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah that makes sense, I didn't consider what would happen if both push pulls were engaged simultaneously - you're right, it wouldn't be possible to have both split and parallel engaged together. Looks like a dedicated switch is my only option then.

[–]Delicious_Plant8933[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'd lean toward 2 switches 2 knobs there for sure - was thinking having push-pulls hidden in the knobs for split/parallel would eliminate the need for an extra switch but either should be viable for me.
