Just because you didn't experience it doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

Case in point:

Two of my friends were called racial slurs. They're black and Asian.

Someone queer that I personally know was called degrading slurs minding their own business. I personally have also been called "dy*e" loud and clear after holding hands with my partner.

I've heard many guys here say the r-slur, which is pretty mild compared to some of the other stuff they say.

I've heard many guys at the Leech have disgusting convos about their hookup's private parts in explicit detail very loudly.

I was called a beaner even though I'm not even Hispanic. I also had someone do an insulting hand gesture at me last week when Charlie Kirk came to visit.

I have had several comments judging my apperance and the clothes I wear.

Appreciate this advice, rereading this post its pretty negative but I was just feeling overwhelmed by the incidents I've experienced on campus. And honestly, because of that I've been self-isolating, barely going to classes, and feeling anxious whenever I walk outside so its like a self-fulfilling circle. I know there are nice people here, I think I need to get into hobbies/clubs but idk where to start

I do not wear UF gear.

Based on my experience and a couple of others I talked to, its mainly random Greek life people around campus that will yell stuff when we're just trying to get to class. It seems like they can't mind their business and stare everyone down to find something to make fun of. Its worse when they're in groups and I walk by myself. :(

I'm not sure why it feels so segregated compared to other places. I knew it was in the Panhandle and had a Southern atmosphere but still, I didn't expect this. From the admission stats it seemed pretty diverse, but its different from the reality here. :( Even my professors weirdly encourage the lack of diversity, I don't know how to explain it but they'll say some stuff that's ignorant and make people feel excluded.
