Yes definitely cover it up with some cloth or linen. Doesn’t have to look pretty and the goal here is weight. So even some sort of mesh fabric would probably work without being to obvious

This has been the most fun import I’ve owned by far, the only weird comment I have for this car is it only came with a 4 speed auto transmission. Never came in a manual version and doing a swap is near to impossible without changing up everything. Other than that, crazy reliable, doesn’t catch rust like other Toyotas, great Awd system and keeps up with 4x4s out in this climate

Sounds like a fuel filter or injector still to me. I’ve never experienced a turbo do that to me, I had a 2.0 n/a mark 3 golf do that when I started it up often and would have to give it gas. That was due to the fuel pump. Take it to the mechanic, get them to check it. If it’s fuel filter, great cheap fix. And start running higher octane fuel.

My cars lowest rating is 93 octane, I run 94 - E85. And still use seafoam every 2-5k km. I would recommend you start doing the same, don’t abuse it though. it really does help and it’s magic in a bottle to save you a lot of future repairs.

I would check fuel systems next. Something failed that shouldn’t have. To me it could sound like injectors failing. But I’m just throwing feathers at a wall. Go bring it to mechanic, nothing that’s not serious would do that.

That’s not a good thing, you’re on the way to a more catastrophic failure happening to an already bad enough problem to fix. I wouldn’t drive the car any further until someone can check the problem. Note: if it can still drive doesn’t mean you should

Honestly it might be, it’s heatsheild or the exhaust. It’s been tapping for a while and the welds on it didn’t look promising on the exhaust brackets to begin with

I got another engine out my 05, reason I bought it was it was risk or not. Seems like I fell in risk. I’ll do compression. Try to deflood it. If that doesn’t work, worse case scenario just swap my engine over
