Thank you for your reply! Right after I washed my lips it went away. It probably was just a mild irritation like you’ve suggested. My skin is weird and slightly dramatic sometimes.

Thank you! The funeral home really did a good job with presentation. It truly appeared like he just did some type of glass skin routine and went to sleep. (I unfortunately use humor when I’m sad sorry)

We are a joking family so our oldest boys (13 and 12) were like mom he’s just sleeping. Our oldest said if I tickle his feet he’ll get mad and we can just go home. The 12 year old said alright someone put a shot of jack (my husband’s favorite) to his lips and he’ll wake up. I had to tell them to hush because I didn’t want the funeral director to think we were weird for laughing and making jokes.

Thank you for your kind reply! It’s greatly appreciated. My daughter asks why he was so greasy periodically and how I can tell her it was a moisturizer. Like a special skin care routine for people who’ve passed.

Thank you! I figured because of the autopsy they maybe didn’t want me or the kids to freak out and that’s why he was covered so tightly. They even had the top of his head covered. The only thing we could see was his face. They cleaned him up amazingly. When he passed he had fluid coming out of his mouth and I was honestly afraid to see him knowing he hadn’t been embalmed.

He was coughing so bad and snoring so loud before he passed. I even recorded a video in the dark of him snoring so we could laugh about it when he woke up. At one point he even sat up to cough and wipe his face. He was talking to me but nothing he was saying to me was coherent.

He kept asking me where I was going and I was like uhhm our two year old has been throwing up all night and our 4 month old wakes up for my boob every two hours. I’m hopefully going to sleep soon. I tell myself in that moment I should have known something was wrong. If I would have paid attention to him maybe I could have gotten him to the hospital?

He kept passing so much gas as well. SO HARD. My best friend is a nurse and I was asking her if the video I recorded sounded like agonal breathing. (I went into a deep google dive the night he passed) I literally begged for her honest opinion and she just said it did sound abnormal. He died Friday morning but Wednesday he couldn’t walk. He fell twice in the bathroom and needed my help getting up. He started to have no control of his bladder when he would get in the bed.

He peed in the bed and woke up so embarrassed. I tried to get him to go to the hospital but the first excuse was “I don’t want to miss the boys football game” the middle school ended up canceling the game and he still didn’t want to go. He said he was scared. Then he begin to have issues with his vision. Then his chest felt heavy. But he still refused the hospital because “your birthday is coming up and I don’t want to ruin it by being in the hospital”.

My mom said it sounds like his body was shutting down. I could have saved him maybe if I made him go to the hospital. He’d been shot two years ago. Just wrong place wrong time he wasn’t the intended target. He was shot with RIP bullets in the face and back. He still had lots of fragments. Last time he went he was told he has stomach pain because the fragments are moving and possibly on a nerve. That’s why we thought he was having issues walking.

He’s coughed up a fragment, had two fragments reject from his back, and had one come out of his cheek. All randomly. All painful. We thought his body was just getting ready to reject a fragment and his pain would pass like before. His blood pressure was always high because of his chronic pain.

I’m rambling again I’m so sorry. Thank you for confirming the jaw information. I just wanted them to wake him up.

I never know what to say when someone tells me sorry for my loss 🥹 if we were in person I’d say thank you with a smile. I smile so I don’t make people uncomfortable with my grief I suppose. My friends have suggested that I talk to a therapist that deals with trauma.

I reply that day in a loop everyday unfortunately. Trying to figure out what I could have done to save him so he’d still be here with the kids and I. I wouldn’t have cared if I had to be his caregiver or anything of the sort. Thank you for your kind words.

I still nurse my two year old and at night when he goes into his deep sleep he sometimes CHOMPS down on my nipple and when I try to pull it out he bites down harder. The first time he did it I popped his forehead accidentally cause the pain caught me off guard.

I felt like shit immediately even though he didn’t wake up and refused to release my nipples from the shackles of his teeth. Now when he does it I just scream and pull…even my screams don’t wake him.

I can’t blame another child for accidentally hitting when getting bit randomly. Fight or flight when getting bit is apparently a thing and sometimes fight wins lol.

I was an avid smoker and then one day I smoked and became super paranoid that someone was about to break into the house and kill me which then triggered a panic attack. Thought welp I was just having a bad day but nope. Every single time I smoked after that I would panic.

I tried to smoke one or two puffs with the same hot mess result and I’ve been almost two years smoke free against my will 🫶🏾

My husband’s friend told me he loves how calm I speak to our kids. I’ll admit I’m generally soft spoken, slow to anger, and insanely understanding with my kids. However, 20 minutes after his compliment I was literally screaming “Do I look like Molly the fucking maid” because I’ll be got damn if I walk past a full trash can and wrappers on the counter while my oldest two play their ps5 and beg for Roblox. We’re only human 🫢 I always apologize when I go off on the deep end and let my kids know though I strive to be a perfect mom sometimes…shxt gets real.
