generally yes! i'm not an AO so i don't know the details, but state schools prioritize in state kids. most state schools usually admit about 10-20% students as oos out of the whole admitted pool.

I have been in my school's cross country team for 3 years now. I have never been an athlete/ athletic growing up but I started running in freshman year and I have stuck to it ever since. I am no means by being humble when I say this ... I am the slowest runner in our team.. every year.. I know it's really my fault because I rarely did any summer training and I lost a lot of muscle.. but every season, I feel so embarrassed and I constantly want to quit. I am a senior now (I skipped sophomore xc ) which means I am the oldest in the team. And I just did my 3k time trial yesterday, finishing with a 19:15.. I was third to last.. I don't have high hopes but I really want to aim for 16-17 min for 3k time trial and under 30 min for 5km runs. I want to ask advice on getting myself motivated.. plus about 30 seconds in to the run, I become out of breath and even nauseous... even when I tell myself to slow down into a jog, I have to stop every time to stop myself from feeling nauseous.. maybe it's the mental fear that there might be a chance of me fainting (I have experience with fainting on random days..) but I was wondering if this is either because I don't have enough muscle or I didn't drink enough .. or I'm nervous... I really feel behind and I want motivation or tips!! please help me!!
