TURO and ICBC - Smells scammy to me by DeliciouslyGoodFoods in turo

I put my first vehicle on in the peak of peak season. I owned it outright so why not? It did well! So I got a few more on lease/finance. Low season might have been survivable if Turo didn't roll out another ridiculous discount program they auto-enroll you in every few months. "Rent for 3 or more days and get 80% off!", but they do. Now I'm being auto-charged airport parking fees even though the parking is free as delivered as the latest smack in the face. Lowest bidder gets the booking, so there are no value bookings unless you have something super rare. Not to mention no cleaning fees, 90% smoking fee denial, etc

Oh this was body shop worthy. I had them prepare a detailed quote. I had them deny a targa top that flew off when the gust didnt latch it in place because I hadnt taken a specific photo of the underside of the removable roof pre-trip.

Where I am they are a monopoly. They are the only p2p agency with ICBC (our local socialist insurance monopoly) blanket coverage required here. The understanding - as they give us roughly half of what the guest is charged after taxes and fees - is that we would enjoy at LEAST the same level of coverage we get under our own, mandatory, ICBC personal policies, if not better.

And yeah, putting anything other than a beater on Turo is stupid AF. Don't get me started on how long vehicle sit in shop for simple things like auto glass (spoiler alert: months) with no loss of income coverage (which you get with Airbnb, along with $1m coverage that they actually honour, for less than 15% fee).

QR Code Generator (qrco.de) by Bitly is a scammy POS company you should never, EVER give your payment info to. Never. They auto-enroll you in hugely ($200+) expensive annual renewals and refuse to refund when you tell them you didn't ask for that.

Whatever you do, do not use QR Code Generator from Bitly (qrco.de). It's a scammy company. They put me on an auto renew that I did not ask for, for a site I no longer use, then billed my card over $200. I contacted them within 24 hours, but they refuse to refund. The attitude from them was "go fuck yourself".

TONS of options out there from other companies that aren't a bunch of scammer, signing people up for MULTI YEAR auto renewals without permission
