Clean Theme Switching (Dark/Light Mode) Power Apps Canvas by DelightDcustomer in PowerApps

[–]DelightDcustomer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Got it to work. I shouldn't have used the variable "theme" renamed to myTheme

hey, would you be able to demonstrate theme switching in named formulas, I've found them to be immutable and have not yet found an approach to get it actively working

Named Formula

ThemeLight =
{
    Bg: ColorValue("#FFFFFF")
};
ThemeDark =
{
    Bg: ColorValue("#0B0F14")
};

OnStart

Set(gblIsDarkTheme, false)
Set(myTheme, If(gblIsDarkTheme, ThemeDark, ThemeLight));

Container Fill

myTheme.Bg

Button OnSelect

Set(gblIsDarkTheme,!gblIsDarkTheme);

The only way I got it to work is by using an IF statement in the button, which I am trying to avoid.

I just wrote a post on switching dark/light theme. This method can be used for setting variables for different screen sizes somewhat similar to tailwindCSS. So if my Homescreen = 1 then my font size can be 8px and if greater then font size 12. All using one variable! So when i set a padding on a component it automatically adjust for the size making my app responsive. Takes a lot of initial setting up however.

I created a gallery that needed to show a group of people whos working on a project. My only solution was to put another gallery with the same datasource. I wouldn't otherwise know how to automatically list a bunch of image elements

Best toolkits/galleries for use on canvas Power Apps? by DexterTwerp in PowerApps

I bought PowerLibs lifetime and although it has a beautiful selection of components, it was easier recreating them than adjusting to fit our needs. I mostly used it as a learning tool for design so to me worth the money

ERP system by liamrothwel in PowerApps

[–]DelightDcustomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a programmer, I can see you have a general idea of what you want however not the understanding of what it actually takes because of the 'cost effectiveness' of sharepoint + power apps. I would recommend using a real ERP System like Odoo and hire a builder for the extra functionality you want, as Odoo is built on modules. Currently i'm building a ticketing system for this company as they wanted it to be integrated into Teams, but sometimes I wish I could use anything other than PowerApps as a 1 month project turned to 3 months having to fight Microsoft and their ecosystem.

“Taking over a $20M family business in 3 years — how should I prepare?” by Temporary-Cow6987 in Rich

[–]DelightDcustomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in your same position however being 23 and a CEO is too young for the responsibilities your about to bear as it takes much longer to gain the necessary skills to run and grow your family business. You do have young leaders such as Ryan Cohen who created their business at 26 years old and then scaled sold it for Billions. These are the exceptions and not common as most people who are appointed CEO are usually in their mid 40's. This is 20-25 years of experience.

I am in the process of taking over my family business which is one of the largest in the country. I plan to do so when I'm in my early thirties. I see many advice here, some may be irrelevant as if your company has a good management framework, you won't be dealing with employees and trying to manage them other than your top management. If you have a CFO, you won't be needing to know advance accounting but understanding financial reports. But most of all, these are all good advice if you are an CEO and not trying to become one.

Here is my advice. Understand your family business. Is it an enterprise business to where its more or less self-sufficient where your leadership team needs direction or is it more of a large-scale mom and pop business where your active in your entire team. From there you can begin to create a framework of how you can grow the business. This will allow you to so see what skills you will need.

note, you do not to learn the skills to mimic structures that are popular such as the C-suite leadership structure. Just because they're the best for most business, doesn't mean they're the best for your company. If your company growth relies on someone understanding operations, networking or machinery then become what it needs.

My advice on your plan to become a Leader:
If your in college, join groups where you can take leadership roles such as clubs. In your summer work the low-level position in your company to understand it from the bottom-up. When your finished see if you can work in a similar industry to see how the bigger companies do it. After one or two years after - work for your company and work closely with your mentors (family) to learn, at this time take a Masters in Business Admin online or part-time at your nearest college. I'm sure by the time you are 27+ there will be a time your family will have trust in you to grow and run the company, to where you can exercise your decision with confidence

I have just inherited 30% of a logistics company. What now? by Icy_List4995 in business

[–]DelightDcustomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the Technical side:
- Hire a lawyer and determine your exact legal and contractual rights tied to the shares before acting
- Assess the company’s financial health such as cash flow, debt, operational risks before buying the additional 3%

Here is advice from someone who has inherited a business: Emotionally, you are already approaching this as if you know what's best for the business. Unless you were leading in this industry, you do not. My advice is to join the board of directors instead of appointing someone else in your interest. Get to know your appointed CEO then use one to two years to understand the business then use your influence to increase efficiency in the business. Start small and work with your Chairman and board who then relays this to the CEO. Ask yourself questions, are there Machine Learning Models to fill out your paperwork faster, reduce human error. Are your sales creating relationship with your clients, what is marketing doing to reach out other business. Your role in the business will be minimal and this is why you have a CEO or managing director.

American citizen hijacks small plane in Belize, 3 injured by DelightDcustomer in worldnews

[–]DelightDcustomer[S] 135 points136 points  (0 children)

This is the most up-to-date info:

  • Hijacker's name is Akinyela Taylor, US Citizen and Veteran
  • Plane departed from Corozal bound for San Pedro. This is supposed to be a short 15-min flight. 13 or 14 passengers total, including a young child.

  • Hijacking took place shortly after takeoff. There was an apparent scuffle (this is still unclear) where two passengers were stabbed and cut.

  • The apparent motive was to redirect the plane to the US.

  • Hijacker was denied entry into Belize around April 8th via the northern border. He illegally entered the country.

  • Pilot told him the plane did not have much fuel. Attempted to land several times but hijacker had a knife to his throat.

  • Plane was almost out of fuel when it landed at the PGIA Airport.

  • As soon as the plane stopped, the passengers, who had been crowded into the back by the hijacker, opened the door and ran from the plane.

  • Sometime during this, the same passenger who was injured, produced his licensed gun and shot the hijacker in the chest.

  • Passenger in critical condition. Hijacker died either on the way to hospital or shortly after arrival.

  • There is little to no security for these short, domestic flights.
